I would rather be banned from NCAA tourney

We had two guys coming back that were respectable: Chris Lofton and CJ Watson....J Smith,D Bradshaw, A Patterson, and M Wingate had shown nothing up to that point. We had lost two of our top four players, Had no players of real note coming in and was picked to finish fifth in the SEC East. Pearl was great at adapting to what he had on the court and getting the most out of it.

I hope Zo can get the job done but he has to prove it on the court.

Bradshaw was Mr. Basketball for Tennessee out of high school. He was more highly touted than Mr. Humphrey who attended Florida. Humphrey had a better college career, but Bradshaw was more wanted coming out. It was coaching that did him in early.

His other top recruits? Mind letting us in on who those might've been?

Ware, Louisville's Chris crawford comes to mind

Pearl lost Crawford to U of M straight up. Ware and Jones didn't qualify; Ware just got his first game action for UL yesterday. He sure as hell wasn't going to land any more studs in last year's class.

Too bad Pearl screwed the pooch, or else the 2012 class would have been very special.

Another thing, why did Oklahoma get away with a 3 yr probation foy lying to investigators about a player getting impermmisable benefits....OKLAHOMa who were repeat violateters btw bc of the Calvin sampson thing......and pearl lies about a BBQ we would of gotten sanctions up the a$$ if we kept pearl..

Can someone explain why they got away with something worse and as repeat violaters.....am I missing something here just wannna know

Everyone hates our color Orange! thats fine with me when we take em on head on!!!

It's just upsetting seeing big schools get away with it and we have a minor BBQ and lose our program...... Kalapari and bledso, auburn and newton, Ohio state looses tressel but gets Meyer

CoC wasn't an NCAAT team last year, and chances are both of those will be this year. We actually looked better against those two this year than we did last year.

The AP loss was inexcusable, but I'd say it's roughly equivalent to that clownshow we watched in Charlotte last year in terms of talent deficit.

I don't understand why everyone is comparing last years team to this. Last years kids was facing demons that we we will never understand. Knowing everyday that your coach will eventually be canned. You could see it take it's toll more and more each game they played. Last year's team was not bad, just mentally not there. This year's team is just plain bad and seems to be getting worse.

But, this year's team has a great coach who rebuilt the program at Missouri State and beat cancer...

I agree that last year team had a lot of things going on off the court that shouldn't be overlooked and that dumba$$ mh didn't help by telling us that bp was going to get canned just days before michigan......let's not forget what pearl did after we lost Tyler smith, everyone thought the season was over not only did we beat number 1 Kansas but almost got to final four.........

Ppl saying ccm doesn't have talent on this team, the talent is there just got to know what to do with it, maybe bot the talent to beat the ky or dukes......but we still competed with duke, Memphis, and Pitt so u can't tell me or neone else that bp left us with the toilet of talent that shouldn't beat Austin peay or coc

Ppl that are saying could bp do ne better with this team maybe yes maybe no.......but I know what he did with 2010 team after we lost smith and ppl thought this season was over

Funny - because that "talent" Martin has didn't do **** under Pearl... most of them were too ****ty to even see the floor - those that did occasionally.. Woolridge.. Golden... played like garbage.

I agree thatWoolridge hasn't done much ever, golden was a freshman there were players that deserved more pt than him at the time.... But these kids are a year older and more experienced....again not saying talent toBEAT teams like ky or duke but they did COMPETE with duke, pitt, and Memphis.....so the talent that i speak of is there to beat teams like austin peay and coc

Yes they did and out coached as well.....shot too many threes, didn't go inside to maymon at all, miller had great first half didn't see much second half till mid way through,

Just frustrating all the way around....I'm prayin we land stokes and hopefully that'll help turn the program around next year

CofC pretty much out talented us at half our positions sadly.

CoC out played us, but didn't have more talent.

I'm so sick of hearing excuses for the Oakland, CoC, and AP loses. First non conference 4 game losing streak since the 1950's. We should never lose to those teams. Not last year or this year.

I would rather be banned from the NCAA tourney for a year, be on probation for 5 years and lose scholarships and keep bruce pearl, rather than be a witness to our formerly strong program dieing before our eyes.

We have no excitement in the games, no passion, no intensity. Were not getting any recruits, TBA is quiet, the student section is a joke, and were probably not gonna make the tourney anyway. Do you have any serious interest in the team? Do you remember how CBP endeared us? He bought Pizzas for the students, played an exciting brand of ball that got us to come see what the fuss was, hovered around campus high fiving students and teachers. He bled orange. We werent a middle of the conference team anymore. We beat teams like Texas, Florida, Kansas, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Memphis, Kentucky and other power house schools. We were a top 25 team consistently and top 10 on a number of occassions. Never once missing the NCAA tourney.

All im saying is, I wish MH would have waited a couple of weeks and stand by the guy that made him his money. We should have taken the punishment from the NCAA, and went down swinging, playing like heck and be ready for when the NCAA tourney let us back. And I know many of you agreed with MH saying Bruce had to go, and you guys are (at least so far) Wrong. Without bruce, will we be a NCAA tourney team this year? Probably not. Next year? Borderline? Maybe?

I know you guys have friends that are UK, Florida, Vandy, and Bama fans. Ask them, does CCM scare you? With him at the helm, does tennessee make you nervous when you see them on the schedule? They will all say a resounding NO.

We gained nothing by letting Pearl go. We only lost everything.

So I ask you this, with the results you see now from the current team/staff. Would you have kept pearl if the NCAA banned the Vols for 2 years and probation for 4 years with 2 scholarship removed for 2 years?

Yes, because it would have kept the program alive and competitive.

And how many games do you think Pearl would have won with this team?? He lost to to many of the same teams with a much stronger/better team last year (Oakland and College of Charleston).

OMG...how many times do I have to read the same thing over and over again....

....again last year a lot of distractions pearl also beat number one team with a weak team....the went to elite 8 almost final four with a weak team

They, the team, were faced with only what Pearl did to them and us as fans. You or on one can sweep under the rug what Pearl did to our basketball program. I like Pearl and we would still have him if he had acted as if he was an honorable person. He failed us and the team and is gone. Face the facts and get over it. Try being a responsible adult about it if you know how to..

Wiggins was the most talented player on the floor - what team did he play for?

People just automatically assume just because they wear a jersey that says "Tennessee" across it rather than "College of Charleston" that the Tennessee players are more talented by default.

Man where you going with this convo...you're all over the place. Are you always this easily confused?

Wiggins was the best player on the floor, but from top to bottom, TN has more talent than CoC. You flip flop the two teams and I think Cremins still wins. It wasn't the players that lost us the CoC game.

Charlotte would have walked the dog on Austin Peay. And since you group those together One was in our house and the other was in their back door.

Just saying it doesn't make it true. Austin Peay, without their best big, lost by 2 against a random A-10 team. Charlotte was far and away the worst team in the A-10. Not hard to make a case that Peay would've beaten them. But regardless, your original comment is that Pearl didn't lose to really bad teams. And whether or not they're better than Peay, Charlotte was a really, really bad team. Which means you're wrong.

So, one that you just made up, and one that had a handler scandal and hasn't really been able to see the floor for the team that picked him up. Yeah, would've been nice to get them.
