if a&m joins who will join the east

I say they go more in the direction of adding more program content. Ant league that has more games and more quality of teams will generate national interest from fans and networks. This "regional market" stuff is old school flawed logic. People in DC, St. Louis, and New York would rather watch a bunch of good quality games every Saturday than deal with having Maryland, Mizzou and Rutgers shoved down their throats...

FSU, OU, UNC, Duke and Miami all have national appeal. FSU, OU, Clemson and Miami are historically quality football programs. UNC and Duke add value in basketball. Any combination of these schools being added to the mix would help in program content. Do you really think UNC or Duke would be added to pick up the Raliegh/Charlotte markets or for their national bandwagon appeal?

Program content, people.

Counterpoint: Games with OU and Miami don't matter so much, as the games between the big teams are already getting a national following, and we already have them every week.

It's the SEC Network games where we can expand our presence. Right now, Raleigh and DC aren't watching them. If NC State or Virginia Tech are involved, Raleigh and DC are watching their local teams.

think of the instant rival we could create if we met at a neutral site every year like the "Worlds largest cocktail party," of course that neutral site would be the bristol motor speedway and every year we would set attendance records.

This might have already been said already, but I did not want to read the entire thread.

While they would want to join the most, how do they make the most sense? They don't expand the footprint a lick.

Neither does the addition of Clemson.

I don't think that the SEC can add OU without OkSt coming as well, which would be the only other viable option.

VT isn't going to come, and WVU would be a fine addition, but not as much as FSU.

Markets are good for television, but so is competition, and the addition of a powerhouse like FSU would only help the conference.

I could see rotating DC and Nashville (LP field) if that ever got going...

I'd say Atlanta but they've usually got other Neutral games to deal with.

i understand the business side, and the 'footprint' argument.
but i dont want TAMU if we have to expand i much rather have 2 ACC schools
FSU would be nice, not to mention FSU would really really piss off the gators.

along with FSU any combo of Va Tech , UVA , NC, NC st would be cool.

for the record, I'd much rather have OU and OkSt join, then add FSU

but I think that's too much movement right now

If we could only add ONE, I'd take FSU

Losing FSU would kill the ACC. FSU's hold over the state of Florida TV market is probably the biggest feather in the ACC's cap.

No, those 3 aren't going to budge

I can't see UNC and Duke budging. But I could see it with NCSU. Maybe I'm just naïve to North Carolina politics, but it seems like State has a more football-focused mindset and could stand to get out of the shadow of the two basketball powers in their backyard.

They only seem more football focused because their bball program has been in the toiler bowl recently.

Now, if we were trying to reform a conference on the strength of the Bass Fishing TV market, NC State would be a shoe-in.

Oh screw it, just add the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and North Carolina Panthers.

Where do you live? The SEC already owns Atlanta. When you consider the UGA fans and the transplants from other areas of the South, GT becomes kind of like the Vandy of the state of Georgia, except with winning seasons.

I live in the state of confusion overlooking the vol nation valley.... :good!:

If the SEC does add a couple of these other teams, they are going to be football powers like VT, WVU, FSU, Okla, A&M. Can you imagine how difficult the schedule would be? There would be alot more 11-2 or 10-3 SEC champs which might hurt our chances for National titles. Plus the wear and tear from all the big games would be brutal. Hypothetical schedule for UT in 2013... Fla, Ala, GA, SC for sure then pick your poison from OK, VT, WVU, LSU, ARK, A&M, AUB, FSU??????? Plus we have ooc clashes with oregon, ohio st, and other traditional powers coming up over the next ten years. Well at least we might get vandy and uk every year.

i dont think there would be a need to play tough OCC teams which is not good IMHO

Yeah...won't happen like that

Also you added too many teams; max expansion would be to 16....you added 5 teams to a 12 team conference

it won't be; florida state, miami, clemson. if we have a team in that state we won't add another. i would have to say virginia tech
