If Barnes were to retire…

I'd take a look at Auburns HC. He's a good one.

From a résumé perspective, would be a homerun and likely tanks a program we have to play multiple times per year.

It’s also one of those things where if we are gonna have to face a coach multiple times a year and they are actually good, make a run at them for sure.

And in this case, it would likely cause Auburn to have a downturn.

Pearl would not come back and the UT BOT would not let him come back even if he wanted to. Again, delusional

Also, it is not Danny’s MO to hire Medicare eligible coaches. He has never hired a football or basketball coach over 52.

if he did want to come or show interest and the BOT refused to entertain, it simply would show they aren’t serious about the success of the program. Because an overwhelming majority of fans would gladly accept it

No, it’s not. He is 65 years old. There are many other good options.

No one is saying Bruce is the ONLY good option....

But when put on a list, there is hardly another coach that has a better rêsumê that him
I just don’t get that statement at all. Danny White has unequivocally shown he wants to win and will do what it takes. It doesn’t take Bruce Pearl at 65 to do it.

This is exactly why Bruce is polarizing on this board. Because people can’t get past him.

You're saying Bruce Pearl is a coach can't win?

You said that if he was interested and we didn’t entertain it, then it doesn’t mean we are serious about succeeding. Your question is not the same as your initial statement. Bruce can win, but it doesn’t mean we aren’t serious. That’s nuts.

Correct. If there was backchanneling going on to see if he was interested and we did not entertain it, it would be a sign that the BOT would not be willing to consider every possible homerun hire available. And Bruce would singlehandedly be the biggest hire we could make that would be met with overwhelming level of support from the fans.

You're not getting the fan reaction from the cheaper / younger names out of the gate.

If a hire (that draws the most positive and overwhelming support from the fans) that is one of the top coaches in the country isn't considered if there is interest from said coach, that does indeed show we are not interested in finding the best possible coach we can.

Additionally, we would also cause a conference foe to take a major step back by taking their coach. This is the same scenario with Chris Beard as well.

Not at all. Again, he’s 65 years old. Don’t need to discuss anymore. Kind of an asinine statement.

All I'm asking you to do is name a coach who would be on same level with him pedigree and resume wise that would be a home run hire....

Crickets apparently

You never asked at all but saying we don’t want to succeed if we turn down Bruce is craziness.

We don’t know who is realistic. As I said, Otzelberger would be a home run. I’m indifferent on Chris Beard because of his past but a great coach. As I also said, just like the pattern with big time schools, I would guess it’s a younger mid major coach.

I would deflect as much as possible when asked a very direct question that I couldn't answer.
You don’t communicate well. There was never a question. You were also the one who picked out phrases a day or two ago and totally didn’t comprehend the poster. I can’t help that. I communicate for a living.

They can have him. He’s a horrible person.

As for McDermott, in the era of the transfer portal and NIL what does him being a “midwestern guy” have anything to do with how successful he’d be here? Did Bruce Pearl have southern roots prior to his hire?

I’ve no idea if McDermott would be interested in the TN job, but I’d make him say no.
Horrible person? I know he got busted at LSU...but no show cause.

What is your evidence to call him a horrible person?

Just wondering: How much influence will CRB have with DW on the next coach???
If I were DW, think I would have had talked with CRB..maybe they've had conversation several times,
I think CRB would only give his "from the heart" suggestions!
What else would a true VFL do??
