If big daddy Gov shows up at your door to take your guns

Because you say it like it's a bad thing. Let me know when your hooker ex needs to get off the crack. Might be able to hook em up Dr. Phil style.

If you're trying to stay in character of your avatar, you're doing a great job.

Johnny's vocabulary might be a bit larger though.

I'm all for it, those who choose to fight will either die in a shootout with the feds or live in a prison for the rest of their lives. Either way they'll no longer be a menace to society. Win-win situation IMO.
Lol you must have had such a raging boner watching cops beat protesters all summer for unlawful assemblies.

Interesting. Law abiding gun owners, that have not been on shooting sprees... are - in your words - a menace to society.

They weren't a menace until the government showed up at their door to take away what they perceive s their constitutional right.

So people the police pull over for broken taillights or "suspicious activity" are a menace as well?

Your logic falls apart when turned on itself.
One of these happens on a daily basis the other is a wet dream what if scenario constantly posed by right wingers that've lost far too many brain cells.

Are they still law abiding gun owners when, in this completely hypothetical situation, they try to kill people that knock on their doors to enforce a law?

Do you think runaway slaves defending themselves from slave hunters were a menace who got what they deserved?

What would you do?

If enough people shoot them on their doorstep, will they eventually give up? If everybody shoots them on their doorstep, I think they will give up.

They're not coming door to door to get your guns.

They will just set up conditions where your neighbors will rat you out and shame you into turning them in. Or they will set up conditions to where you get "sanctioned" and you lose access to your bank accounts. If you have a wife and kids in your home, they would likely sell you out in exchange for food.

I'm curious.

Can you read?

Did you read this?

Did you see how the headline does not match the facts?

Again, curious.
I did read it. I found the actual article more compelling than the headline. Here is an interesting passage.

Even leftist Justice Sonia Sotomayor appeared to take issue with what happened, noting, “there was no immediate danger to the person threatening suicide and no immediate danger to the wife because the suicide person [sic] was removed to a hospital.”

If you can’t sell Sotomayor on your gun grabbing plan you’ve got a serious problem.

This is the marriage of liberals and right wingers so extreme they are civil libertarians. It's just anti government sentiment coming from two different directions.

Does anyone claim that the police acted for an improper purpose? No. They responded to a call of a suicide threat. They don't know if it's a legitimate threat. They are reacting to the report. They can't read minds.

Could the guy later get his guns back upon showing no risk? Of course.

If you want to blame someone blame the person who made a false report. Don't fault the cops for doing their freaking jobs, with the information they had available at the time.
