you really think 14-0 is possible?

don't you know how many people and organizations have been ordered to risk everything to prevent that from happening.

Congrats. In one sentence you managed to again prove yourself ridiculousness. In just one sentence.
Do you really think that amounts to a rational argument? He lost to two of the 3 good SEC teams he played that year by blowout margins. UF was a better team and MUCH better coached... UGA was a better team poorly coached by Richt for many of the same reasons that got Fulmer fired. The difference with Richt is that he's done nothing else BUT try to reinvent himself to become competitive again.

Its doesnt matter if he backed, he fronted, he sidewayed into a SECCG.....he got there. You still have to win games. There are no * for *backed into game, bonehead. You play the game cause you got there. You won, others lost.
He was not competitive with the best teams in the SEC any time following the 2001 CG choke vs LSU. You can make excuses and call names or any other evasion you choose. All that does is further prove that you have no case whatsoever to make for believing that Fulmer was able or even willing to do what it took to right the program.

And if you have to resort to "everyone knows" it only confirms that you cannot prove your point so its the last resort go-to statement.
OK. So that I am not guilty of the same mistake you made with your "all Rival fans" thing... MOST informed and rational observers at the time knew that Fulmer played a weaker schedule to his advantage that year. He beat UGA which he had to do. But UGA and UF both had better teams that year. Fulmer had lost it.

I also notice that you have evaded the real REASONS I gave for believing he had to go. He was no longer recruiting effectively. He was no longer maintaining discipline within the program. He was NOT competitive with the SEC's best teams.

yeah, I got the years wrong. Off by one but it doesnt matter. He took our team to the SECCG which makes your initial assumption just as dumb now as it did earlier. Go back to window licking.

You're a classy guy... You have weak arguments and think that snide remarks and namecalling make you look smart.

Again, deal with the real issues. Fulmer was who got the program in trouble. He was doing nothing to make things better. Cutcliffe gave him a reprieve or his days would have been much shorter.

Can't believe I'm agreeing with both KBVol and sjt18 in a thread, but hey, it's a strange sort of day.

As time removes the fog from the facts, thinking people who disagree often move closer to each others' opinions. The deluded... they stay out there with myths and fantasies.

Exactly! I don't know how you can get into the SEC championship, and recruit in the 30's the same year. We disagree a lot but Fulmer had to go.

I don't think this is a bad topic because Ellis Johnson just finished winless at Southern Miss last year. Anything can happen.

No. Tennessee could go 0-12 and CBJ keeps his job. Although fwiw I think Tennessee is more likely to go 8-4 than 4-8.

If we didn't win a game---CBJ would be fired If Dooley got 3 seasons of subpar football. I could guarantee you a winless season would be worthy of pulling the plug.

I've seen some crazy threads on this site in my time, but this one is definitely in the top 5, no doubt about it. Congrats.

Tennessee has never lost 8 games in a season. Some think this is not outside the realm of possibility in Coach Butch Jones's first year at the helm.

Do we fire Butch if he loses 8?

My personal feelings are he would have to be eating Dooley Wacky Bambacky to lose 8.

If we do lose 8 next year though, I think it is grounds to fire Hart (might as well include Cheek while we're at it), and the next's guys first job is to line up the next guy. CBJ have to win something special in Y2 to carry-on.

We let Dooley carry-on after the KY loss, and I think we all agree it was a huge, huge mistake.

Uhhhhh NO! With all due respect, this might just be the most ridicules post in the history of message boards.

2 observations:

1. This thread was epic from the start.

2. The fact that its actually a merged thread makes it even more so.
