It was time for Fulmer to go. There were always going to be risks making a new hire but that does not change the simple fact that it had become worth it to the future of the program to take those risks. No matter who was hired, there was going to be some "bleeding" for a couple of years due to Fulmer's failed 07 and 08 recruiting classes plus the weak class he left Kiffin in 09.

The right answer was to fire Fulmer. But the second part of the right answer was NOT to hire Kiffin or Dooley.

Hopefully, Jones completes the process of taking the program from a coach that had become complacent, entitled, and ineffective and handing it to one with the skill and drive to achieve championships.

Lets say Mark Richt won a NC while he was at Georgia, and this year he went 5-7. And Georgia fired him. Then hired someone that coached there for one year and left for "Insert team here", then hired a coach that went 6-7, 5-7, and 5-7.

What would you think of Georgia's decision?

Question: Think about it? Why does every Rival fan make fun of us for fireing Fulmer?

Answer: Because it was a dumb decision.

And if you would take your orange glasses off, you would get it.

It was obvious what happened to Fulmer the last 4 years. We fans should have stopped what we were doing, and helped Fulmer find his Mojo. If we had all helped him and had found it, who knows what could have happened?

Seriously? It's his first freaking year coaching! No matter what happens this year, we don't fire a 1st year coach. We've undergone enough coaching changes and NEED stability. Not only stability, but we are in debt incase you forgot as well. Butch has a plan and he "gets it!"

I don't think Butch Jones will be fired if he loses 8 games in his first season, but I can tell you one thing.

If Tennessee were to fire Butch Jones after this season for any on-field performance related reason, Tennessee would find themselves behind Vanderbilt for the next 10 years at minimum. It would be a death knell for the program.

the doldrums of summer are here,i can't wait till some practice is going on and no I don't think he will be the first to lose 8 games and no,he needs 5 years to see how well he will be as a coach for the Mighty Vols of Tennessee and he will only get a couple to do that

Remove athletics from under chancellor Booger eater and put it back under the "UT" system. If we go 4-8 so be it. If we go 4-8,5-7,6-6 then we need to make it a crime to shop at the dollar tree for coaches ever again. My opinion, however, is we will not go 4-8 and Butch will bring us back up. Big programs never stay down for ever. It is our time!!!!!!
