If we lose to ____, Butch loses support

My first thought was Western Kentucky, because that will be tough, but I don't even think that will be devastating to Butch Jones. He only won four games at Cincinnati the year after they went to a BCS bowl. Also, this team is not very good. That's not his fault.
This is coming from a guy that is still not gee-whizzed about the hiring of Butch Jones.

Western Kentucky

...or possibly Kentucky if it's like a 1-2 win wildcat squad, but a new coach can usually get away with anything but a 0-2 win season in year one.

For me it's not so much any ONE game... but if we consistently lose to everyone... even the powder puff schools... South Alabama, Austin Peay, etc... It will be hard to watch.

I honestly don't care if we go 0-12 though. I'm not expecting the house to be built in a season. It's BRICK by BRICK! If we get these recruits to stay committed to UT, we will have the talent to start a revolution.

7-6 is the lowest i will tolerate and accept this year. If he has a losing season with the talent we have on defense and potential on offense people won't believe a word he says.

Reality check time.....hello is anyone home?

I would like to think we win all the games we should win (powder puffs). Vandy and Auburn are a ? but if we find a QB that can play won't shart his pants and beat ourselves, we win those at home. Outside of that, I would like to see us steal one from UGA or USCe. We lose to Bama and Fla as usual. 8-4 would be lights out in Butch's first year. 7-5 more realistic. 6-6 I would groan but not be down on Butch...growing pains.

This was the expected W/L ratio just posted by a "Vol" fan on another board. But he said he didn't care and that Butch need 3 years to get us to 8+ wins.

How much of a pass would he get? Cause maybe I'm in the minority, but it we went 3-9, I'd want him fired, right or wrong, I would...

I cant decide what is more stupid. The prediction or your posts in this thread.

If UT loses to APSU and S. Alabama the place will be torn down "BRICK by BRICK!"

I want to see sixty minutes of solid effort each game and improvement thorough the season and I think we will.

I agree, but that's where last year's team had nothing in the tank after 0-October. Schedule sets up similar this year.

It may be 2 struggling seasons, but if he get's 2 top10 recruiting classes we should see some results. The main thing is show progress. Dooley never was able to provide this.

our D will be solid this year and keep us in some games. Our DL interior is the strongest its been in awhile and we have a little speed on the edge. Our lb's are thin, but AJ, Curt, Sapp, Brewer and a couple others can make plays. Randolph in the back makes a huge difference, and we won't have 4.7 40 guys back there playing on an island in a matchup against the other team's go to guy, repeatedly, game after game. Randolph will help Moore be more of a ball hawk, rather than having to play one man deep against 4 go patterns and try to guess where the ball will go.

I'm optimistic and everything, but ummm I would care if we go 0-12...

construction crews can build a brick building from start to finish inside and out in a year with the same amount of assistants as butch has. yes i know we are dealing with young adults but still they are on scholarship if they can't pick up the info to run the plays remove their scholarship and make them a water boy or something.

I think we will be one of them powder puff teams this year, this is going to be a very long year we just got to hang in there for 2 years, then you will see the old Tennessee Team is back from the dead.

I have a sneaky feeling that you might be right. However, it's overpowered by a few things I have a hard core belief about.

1. CBJ & Co. have a history of coaching up players and getting quality performance from them.
2. Our DL was originally recruited to be 4-3 and last year's departure from that grossly misused the DL talent we have. CBJ isn't making that mistake.
3. The S&C program I believe is already showing results in our players. They keep at it, I think both the OL and DL will be pushing people around a lot, especially teams fielded by the likes of VU.
4. This team has been embarrassed, shamed, endured loss of morale but now believes in themselves again. I see this team playing angry. So angry people sitting in the nosebleed sections will hear the impact of tackles and even blocks loud an clear.
5. For a good number of players, this is their final year. They want to make it one to be remembered and will play like it.
6. The O&W game with so many key players out, didn't allow the two primary QBs to do themselves justice. Our WRs have yet to prove themselves-but re-read comment #1. By August, they will be playing maybe not great but well enough. The Worley doubters will see why he was Gatorade Player of the Year. But once again, I say Peterman is just too good to keep benched. CBJ just might switch QBs quarter by quarter and muck up opposing defenses.

All in all, despite my opening statement, I think we're going to return the drubbing VU gave us last season. I don't even think Butch will be able to call the dogs off. Given the atittudes of the VU coaches and their snotty Tweeting, I don't think CBJ will want to call the dogs off. When it's over, I hope every Vol fan stands and shouts, "Anchor up and get the hell out of town!" Keep repeating it until the whole VU has vacated the field.
