I think we will be one of them powder puff teams this year, this is going to be a very long year we just got to hang in there for 2 years, then you will see the old Tennessee Team is back from the dead.
I have a sneaky feeling that you might be right. However, it's overpowered by a few things I have a hard core belief about.
1. CBJ & Co. have a history of coaching up players and getting quality performance from them.
2. Our DL was originally recruited to be 4-3 and last year's departure from that grossly misused the DL talent we have. CBJ isn't making that mistake.
3. The S&C program I believe is already showing results in our players. They keep at it, I think both the OL and DL will be pushing people around a lot, especially teams fielded by the likes of VU.
4. This team has been embarrassed, shamed, endured loss of morale but now believes in themselves again. I see this team playing angry. So angry people sitting in the nosebleed sections will hear the impact of tackles and even blocks loud an clear.
5. For a good number of players, this is their final year. They want to make it one to be remembered and will play like it.
6. The O&W game with so many key players out, didn't allow the two primary QBs to do themselves justice. Our WRs have yet to prove themselves-but re-read comment #1. By August, they will be playing maybe not great but well enough. The Worley doubters will see why he was Gatorade Player of the Year. But once again, I say Peterman is just too good to keep benched. CBJ just might switch QBs quarter by quarter and muck up opposing defenses.
All in all, despite my opening statement, I think we're going to return the drubbing VU gave us last season. I don't even think Butch will be able to call the dogs off. Given the atittudes of the VU coaches and their snotty Tweeting, I don't think CBJ will want to call the dogs off. When it's over, I hope every Vol fan stands and shouts, "Anchor up and get the hell out of town!" Keep repeating it until the whole VU has vacated the field.
