Kentucky beat Auburn a team that killed us. I wouldn't call kentucky a bad team

We lost to Auburn at home, and for Kiffin to take KY into OT after talking all the mad shiz he did coming into the season, makes us look even worse. They even let Vandy stay with us until the 4th quarter really.

I don't disagree that they had things going at a higher level in certain areas, but after reviewing last season as a whole, there is no way were we that MUCH better of a team, IMO. Hell, they cost Berry his record, and people argue he got higher in the draft because of it. Hogwash, he was a Top 10 pick before Kiffin got here.

This part I agree with, because Eric said in a recent interview that the Chiefs run the exact same defense that Chavis ran. They basically let him roam around and make plays.

Cost Berry a record? Good grief. A meaningless record vs. being able to defend the run?

Anybody who watches UT football knows that. I haven't seen say that.

We moved the ball on offense last year and didn't lose to wyoming.

to be quite honest, he was either 1 or 2 in the draft before kiffin got here

Fulmer never, ever, ever let UK and Vandy keep it close...:ermm:

No. No safety (I don't care how good he is) is going top-2 unless it's a dier position of need for a team. It wasn't for the Rams or the Lions.

I prefer to point out lunacy when I see it. The last staff was comprised of well-known workaholics. Everything was done full-assed and if possible, to a higher degree. If you wanted to find a big flaw with them, it was pushing things way too far, not putting forth a weak effort.

true love never dies. I guess the saying is true.

Yeah, the team was on life support at the end of the season. Seems fairly obvious. Yet, somehow we're expected to beat Virginia Tech.

I'm sure EB would rather make sure we win games over a record that nobody knew about before EB got here.

He proved he could play the John Lynch-type role and got an endorsement from Monte Kiffin. That sure as hell didn't hurt him. If Berry wanted to break the record so bad, he had around 12 more games to try for it. Guess it wasn't that big of a deal. And yes, we were a hell of a lot better in 2009.

John Lynch was a 3rd round talent that had something to prove. If you are going to compare, at least compare them at the same points in their careers. Right now, if they are side by side, Berry would be lightyears better than Lynch, IMO.

It's not that we love Kiffin. I hate him...yet I'm not going to say he was bringing down the program when I know that is not true, and when 95% of Vol fans thought he was doing a great job.

Not even close to the point I was going for. Shocking.

I don't think he was looking to make a literal comparison to John Lynch.

So, why even say what you did?? John Lynch didn't somehow reinvent the Safety position, he just played the LOS well. You said John Lynch-type, and honestly, Berry has always been hard-hitting. I'm sure Merreno would tell you that he knew how to play the LOS before Kiffin got there. Even Marquise Maze would too.

Yet, he mentions a Monte Kiffin coached safety. John Lynch was a product of a system, not necessarily being a great talent. He was a solid player, but Berry is on a another level, IMO.

It is a tough situation, but he is expected to handle it.

What is the line on a good recruiting class? Top 15?

I'd be happy with Top 20 if the class was just filled with linemen.

Well you cant put that on Dooley, Fulmer and Kiffin didnt get the linemen. He kept Juwuan James and landed James stone late last yr. Pretty good stuff from him with little time he had before signing day IMO. It would take any coach here a few years for rebuilding.

Still don't get it.

Ugh. This is going to turn into another Peyton Manning's offense-type discussion that gets deleted.

Fulmer not getting lineman really hurt the program.

So, draw it out in crayon since I don't get it.

He was saying that Berry showed he can play the John Lynch-type safety, someone who can play near the LOS and that Monte helped him become a better player because of that, and that he can handle those responsibilities.
