‘23 IL WR Carnell Tate (Ohio State commit)

Basically teams are willing to pony up the money to get Tate compared to Kasper. They may not think Tate is worth the price of admission so will have to wait and see what their willing to do.Big diff in how they approach things I'm sure with a strong Wr class and a generational qb.

Ohio State, which their receivers coach is probably the best in College football at the moment with what he’s done last 3 seasons. But I think we could land him based off Nico connection just won’t be easy obviously
I just went through the 247 rankings from 2019 to 2021 and in those 3 recruiting classes they have had four 5 star WR's on their roster. Hard for me to be impressed with the coaching. He must be a good recruiter though. TN made a bunch of 3-4 star receivers look like the best in the country last year.

LOL what??????? Brian Hartline is not only the best WR recruiter in CFB, he is right there as the best teacher after a stalwart 6-7 years with the Miami Dolphins. He gets literally whoever he wants and his players love him. 2 first round picks this year in the first round with Olave and Wilson, and THEY WEREN'T EVEN THE MOST TALENTED RECEIVER ON THE TEAM... Jaxon Smith-Njigba is after placing 2nd in the country last yeat (1602 yards), even though all 3 were 1000 yards. They will be just as potent with Emeka Egbuka, Marvin Harrison jr., and Julian Fleming this year, with 3-4 almost as talented behind them. That's coaching to..... Stroud might throw for 5500-6000 yards this year.

He was a good NFL receiver for the Dolphins as well. Olave was a 3 star and he did great work with him too. He recruits all of those guys as well. You’ve got to be able to recruit the position you coach or you’ll stay mediocre

Thank you, lol I about laughed when I read what he said. Rodney Garner must have a difficult time impressing him too by his own logic. You have got to be able to Land talent, develop talent and send them to the pros which Hartline has done a phenomenal job of doing. I don’t think anyone would argue the results reasonably anyway

Yeah for sure. It’s all about recruiting. That’s why I hope we get Tate. He will make our WR coach look like a genius also

Does anyone know how good aWR coach some of our posters think Brian Hartline is. Asking for a friend

The two best WRs in football, Davante Adams and Cooper Kupp, ran 4.6 - 4.7 at their combines. Jerry Rice was also in that range. Getting open and catching the ball is the most important part of being a WR. Not being the fastest guy on the field
People vastly underestimate the role that running good routes and reading defenses play in a WR’s game.

All about the Jimmies and joes

One of his guys (Chris Olave) was a 3 star from Cali. He'll be a first round pick this draft. He's recruiting and developing them.

I'm hopeful for Kelsey Pope, but Burns was a recruiter and developer as well. Sucks to lose him so soon.

Swain didn’t seem too happy (at all) with Burns. I don’t think he was as good as you think. Our young WRs in particular did not make huge strides last year.

My source who is related to one of our top WRs said they were not concerned about Burns leaving. He didn’t do much for the players needing a lot of development.

There’s always a few ppl that wait until a coach leaves to tell us how great that coach was and how we will miss them
Idk what to think of Burns but Heupel didn’t seem too upset to see him go. He was making close to the bottom as far as assistants. He did get a bump in pay as part of his initial contract

He didn’t wait. He alluded to it last year and before he left. He always hints at it without naming people though. You have to listen

If you hold him accountable for that, you have to also give him credit for Tillman, Jones, and Payton.
Especially Velus, and Tillman. There numbers skyrocketed from the previous season.

More than anything I think Heupel just didn;t rotate as much more so than Burns not developing.

It doesn't matter now because he's gone. So well see what Pope brings to the table now.
