I'm Sick and Tired!

Part of being a fan(short for fanatic) is believing in your team when no one else does. Cheer them when they do well and support them when they're down.

Go Big Orange

I'll be driving all friday night to see them play Cal. If you ever see me on gameday, you will witness the definition of support. That said, I don't expect them to win a national championship this year. I don't think that makes me negative.

I must have missed it. Who on here predicted a NC?

You've clearly missed a lot of things. No one has predicted a national championship. That said, predicting any sort of loss for the Vols seems to be dismissed due to the intense negativity of such a prediction.

UHHHH not that I've seen. Most have predicted a 9-3 10-2 type season.

That's fine. It also wouldn't be that ludicrous to predict a 6-6 season. I expect we'll do better than that, but I also expected better last year. I can totally understand why some are not predicting a fantastic season.

First time homer poster, so bash away, but guys come on!!! If you spent just half the energy you do finding creative and cleaver ways to bash the Vols, and focused that energy on cheering the Vols to victory on Saturday, then Neyland would be rockin' again.

What scares me most about you guys is the "I told you so" attitude, you're just waiting (and it seems hoping) for our dismiss, and when that first mistake happens Saturday, all you haters (or realist as I'm sure you see yourself) will be grumbling when you should be cheering and trying to motivate the team to succeed.

Homer-ish, yes, and I'm happy living in LaVolLand.

There are plenty of people that hope the Vols lose saturday. I don't think any of them waste their time posting on this board.

Welcome :hi:

That sounds like some of the posts I've made a few times. New year, new team, new results. Quit living in the past, it can never be changed. Cheer with the conviction that it will make a difference and you'll enjoy being a Vol fan more.

That's it. I predict the Vols to go Undefeated and win the National Title! There... now what do we think my chances are of getting to say I told you so?? :p

Really? I could name a few.

I doubt it. Predicting a loss and hoping for one are two different things. I hope for and predict a UT win saturday. Also, since you have already established that you are against living in the past, I expect you to strongly criticize anyone that mentions the 1998 team to support anything.

No, that is the argument that the "realists" use so I'm throwing it back. Can't back CPF w/ his overall record then don't bash because of 1 or 2 seasons.

And yes, I truly believe there are posters on this board that would like to see another losing season. It would enforce their opinion that CPF be gone.

I go to/watch every game with the belief that UT will win. Not could or would but WILL. It's the only way I know how to be a fan, but to each their own. The thought of UT losing never enters my mind.

The thought of losing to Vanderbilt never entered my mind. I know now that anything is possible. There's not much that could happen int 2006 that would surprise me.

Just adding to this. I have always had that feeling as a fan of Tennessee, and I would sometimes wonder what it was like to be a fan of a team that you couldn't just assume victory from week to week. I got my first taste of what that was like near the middle to end of last season.

Don't wanna taste that ever again. A Golden Bear destruction would make that feeling fade pretty quick. :good!: :good!:

Excellent point. I'm sure there are plenty of Vanderbilt fans that aren't expecting a win against Michigan. That's a bad example, though. South Carolina has some really dedicated fans. Until recently, they couldn't realistically expect to win many games. The support was still there, though.

SC does have some good and loyal fans. I almost felt bad for them until "he" showed up.

Just trying to show that you don't have to expect a win to be a loyal fan. However, sometimes I think it's good to exude confidence. For instance.... the year was 2002, and UT was going to play Miami. All week long, I talked with my friends about our realistic chances of winning. We all agreed that the chances were somewhat slim. On gameday, however, I awoke and donned my orange. I guaranteed a UT victory to everyone I spoke to. In fact, I predicted UT would have it won by halftime. At halftime, I realized I had made an idiotic prediction. Rather than admitting the mistake, I said that we had them right where we wanted them. The second half was no better. Anyway, the point is that every saturday this fall I will behave as if there is no chance in the hell that UT won't win by 35 points. In the days leading up to that, I would like to intelligently discuss our actual chances of victory in this forum. Thus, do not criticize my loyalty or call me negative if my post do not always portray me as being 100% convinced of a Volunteer win.

I'm with the Vol(true-fan) Beef group as well.:clapping:

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I don't have the money to pay for a UT-Cal ticket or the gas required to get me from Memphis to Knoxville and back. I also don't have the time. Oh well, I'm doing it anyway. Apparently this is not enough to make me a true fan, though.

I don't think you must expect a win every single game to be a "true fan"... like previously mentioned, teams like Vanderbilt and Kentucky wouldn't have fans if that was the case. I'm always hopeful for a Vols victory, and I cheer like crazy for them. I am rather superstitious about picking them against alleged good teams however, therefore I picked Cal in the pick'em thing at VN. With that said, I have a good feeling about the game Saturday and think the Vols will win. It won't bother me if I miss a game in a silly pick'em contest. :)

I'm excited about the new season and confident that it will be a good one. I'm not the kind of person that is always doom and gloom and I don't complain about every little thing.

Beef......

Have you been to any of the scrimmages????

I would like to offer you one point...... The O-line is not that good in run blocking or pass blocking; they are average at best with very little depth.

I guess though you say that is being negative. I beg to differ, it is an observation.

What occured last year with Vols was not simply a bad year, it was hopefully a culmination of complacency that had come to a head over time.

Will the Vols be better this year????? I have no idea but we will all see in two days.
