I didn't get to watch the game. What happened that allowed Indy to lose to the lowly Texans?
It's more of what didn't happen, which would be the defense. Ron Dayne ran for 150+ yards and 2 TDs. Nothing more needs to be said.
Peyton was pissed at his defense. He was on the sidelines yelling, "Get the f***ing ball back!"
yeah.. he also once again called out his teamates, this time going after the D (after going after the O-line in last year's game). Peyton stated something along the lines that he can only play on one side of the ball and the team "is what it is". great leader you peyton lovers have there. more evidence proving i wouldn't want him on my team.
Interesting perspective. You seem pretty vocal about calling out the flaws in UT's teams. I think there's nothing wrong with that. Should Peyton not be allowed to bring up his own team's flaws? Why should Manning sit back and act like half of his team is playing anywhere close to adequate? When the offense does poorly, Peyton will accept some blame. If the defense plays like a junior high team, I think he has the right to give them a little motivation.
i'm not so sure peyton will accept some of the blame when/if the offense does poorly. Either way though, you don't call out other aspects of your team to the media. everyone knows that. You can bring it up in team meetings and face to face w/ your teamates, but don't use the media outlets to voice your frustrations at your other members of your team. no way is that acceptable. especially for the proven leader, great all around guy peyton manning supposedly is.
Plenty of quarterbacks say crap like that after losses. It happens all the time. The only reason this instance is at all remarkable is because Peyton Manning "the face of the NFL" said it.

thanks for reading the whole thread clowers. he called out his D to the media after the game. I mentioned it earlier and he never took blame for the o-line problems last year. show me your source on that.

I don't have a source, but just trust me that in a later interview he clarified that "protection" does not specifically indicate the O-line. He basically said it was his fault for calling the wrong protections because the defense threw a lot of stuff at him that he hadn't seen before. I also remember Jeff Saturday saying the O-line didn't play well at all, but he didn't feel like Peyton threw them under the bus.

I don't need a source, I've seen the press conference several times. After the press conference, ESPN talked about it for the next couple of weeks. He said the protection problems were because of communication issues. Peyton then said that he's mostly to blame, but that the offense as a whole needs to play better.
As for the press conference after the Texans game, it hasn't even been talked about on ESPN or anything. They haven't said anything about Peyton calling out his defense. Peyton said that the Colts need to play better in all 3 aspects of the game. If I'm not mistaken, that includes the offense, defense, and special teams.
Like I said, there will be a few morons who criticize anything Peyton Manning ever does, only because of his success.
love that one. can't back it up... also.. WHAT SUCCESS? more early playoff exits?
Please. Like you can find a source confirming a postgame interview that happened a year ago. This an internet message board debate, not a research project. If you want to go searching for the source, I guarantee it exists somewhere. I don't feel like wasting an hour looking for it.
By the way, how about showing me a source confirming that Manning's agent asked him to clarify his statement about the protection problems?
