I think almost everyone would agree that the hypesman isn't really about who the best CFB player is, but is a beauty contest that defensive players (or any player on a two or more loss team or any non-BCS championship contending team...) shouldn't even bother to expect consideration....

Gerhart is much better. That is no debate, just watch the man play. I have never watched one of those overhyped presentations since '97. It's a popularity award among top ranked teams. It does not go to the best college football player.
Anyway, I am watching ths program about Miami on ESPN. It's all about their bad boy image and how they beat all these great teams and wer so great, blah blah. They skipped over the '86 Sugar Bowl. Hmmmm.
