Whether or not this has an impact on his ability to coach seems irrelevant. If the on field results are missing that isn't necessarily an indicator that this tactic is useless. The players get an idea of the expectations their coaches have, and they get a visual cue on how everyone sits. Hopefully, it has the intended result of making orange a source of pride, but it also adds a sense of accountability.
Building morale, fostering pride, finding a work ethic, and so on are all going to be important steps in returning the football team to a respectable level. It has to start somewhere.
