iPhone

When I bought my iPhone 5 last year, the full retail price of the phone if you didn't have an upgrade to use was $799 IIRC. Given that I have just the one line on my account and knowing that I'd be on the hook for that much to replace my phone if I were to break it over the two years till I got another upgrade, $99 upfront for AppleCare plus a $50 deductible seemed like a relative steal. Two years provides A LOT of opportunities for something unfortunate to happen to a phone.

I don't know who would ever pay $799 for the phone. If they tried to charge you that, just cancel and pay the penalty of $300 and get a new phone from a different carrier (same #) for $199.

Or just pay $99 for AppleCare, and know that I never have to worry about it. Even your slightly better second option to full retail would end up costing me at least $350 more and a hell of a lot of my time. I agree that $799 for a phone is insane, but at the end of the day that's what it costs if you don't have an upgrade. Hence the purchase of some sort of insurance.

Nearest one is an hour for me

Both Nashville locations are only about twenty minutes away for me, but with the in-store traffic they're having these days it may as well be an hour. I just don't understand standing in a line for hours on end to buy a phone.

It's easier just going to a carrier store. If I have a problem that's when I go to the Apple Store but its usually by appointment so it's not bad.

What's everyone's opinion of iTunes Radio? Apple reported 11 million unique users over the weekend. If that pace continues it will eclipse Pandora at the end of Oct.

I've used it some. It's a nice change up from Pandora. A buddy of mine swears it sounds better. I was already an iTunes Match subscriber so I don't get any ads. Does it at a lot?

I love it way more than Pandora. Less commercials and more in tuned to the artist station you are listening to.

For all the wealth of improvements that iOS 7 brought, I absolutely loathe the fact that I no longer have the option to decline calls to send it right to voicemail and make my phone stop ringing. Now I'm forced to either answer the call or just listen to the ringing for 30 seconds. What a stupid change.

Can you hit the volume down button on the side of the phone to make it go silent?

Yeah, you can still flip the button over to silent mode, I just think its dumb that I can no longer click the one button, decline a call and be done with it. Seems like a strange feature to eliminate.

That's not what I mean. Just hit the volume down button once and it goes silent I think. I could be wrong considering I'm currently without my iPhone. But it seems like I've reached into my pocket and hit the volume down button before to stop the ring. I could be mistaken though.

Interesting. I'll give that a try sometime.

How do you do it? All I have now is the slide to answer bar but the ability to pull up the decline button has been removed from mine. Are there some settings I have to change to get the option back?

The answer/decline but only shows if my phone is open & I'm not updated. I've always hit the lock button once to silent the call & again to decline.

Interesting. On iOS 6 I always had the option to pull up the decline/text a response buttons from the bottom of the lock screen IIRC. Now that option is gone, but I'll try double clicking the lock button to decline and see if that works.

It's just there. Damn piggie fans called me Saturday to rub in the Florida game. I just hit the red decline button. I'll see if I can get a screen shot next call I get.

I might still have it when I'm actually using the phone and a call comes in, I haven't had that happen since I've been paying attention the last couple days. I know for sure that the option to pull up the decline button from the lock screen is long gone from my phone since the update.

I haven't used iTunes Radio yet, but here is why I like Pandora...the shuffle. I can choose to shuffle different Artist Stations. I don't see that option with iTunes Radio. You have to listen to a particular artist station, right?

Just hold down the lock/sleep button. It declines the call.
