iPhone

Is there a "step by step" jailbreak for dummies out there? I assume it keeps the airplay and such...

Nothing will change if you don't want it to. You can change the look & add or enhance other functions but you don't have to. If you just wanna do it for movies that's fine.

Thanks...Is this something I need to have the ipad connected to my imac to do?

Yes. Download the appropriate software from the site for your Mac & run it. A box will pop up & after you plug in your iPad the jailbreak button will turn bold & you click it. Just sit back & wait. Maybe do a backup in iTunes just as a precaution.

So just looked and do see I have to have it hooked up. Another stupid question...if I jailbreak my ipad, do I lose the ability to have apps from iTunes store? I use my Directv app for instance quite a bit and it is an "official" app from iTunes...do I lose that>

It won't affect anything you had before. You don't have to hook it up until you download the program & have it up & ready to run. If iTunes opens automatically when you plug in you might wanna disable that.

You don't lose anything except the ability to download the latest updates to the ios or (possibly) itunes right away. (You could un-jailbreak and update easily, however.) Just make sure you backup your device to itunes prior to jailbreaking and you can restore it to that state at any point.

Just to add if you unjailbreak to update iOS there may not be a jailbreak to support the new iOS. So if you like the jailbreak you may wanna just stay where your at until they develop a new jailbreak for the new iOS.

Good point. The jailbreak for iOS 7 wasn't available until about 3-4 months after it's release.

One more thing to add: if you need service for any reason you will need to unjailbreak as its frowned upon by Apple.

I just called into AT&T to see if I could get my bill lowered. Apparently, T-Mobile is offering to pay early termination fees for anyone on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon to switch over, so AT&T has lowered their rates significantly. I wouldn't have known unless I checked today. Just giving a heads up to everyone here.

I was paying $160/mo ($80 for unlimited talk/text and $40/ea line for 2 lines for data) - 6GB

I am now paying $130/mo ($100 for unlimited talk/text and $15/ea line for 2 lines for data) - 10GB

I've been using the hell out of that to sell some phones at work. Anybody with att prior to feb 2nd can get that deal. Those with family plans ought to jump on it, deal is good for two more months or so.

I really like the way tmobile structures their plans, but coverage is horrible outside of major metro markets.

Yeah, I was very happy. Why are they only offering to those pre-Feb 2nd?

So...we have a family plan with 5 iphones, 4 of which are unlimited data. We have the lowest amount of shared min. (700) available plus unlimited text. Our total bill is $271. Is it worth my time to go to an AT&T store or call? What's the best approach?

Ask Milo, but yes for sure

That's not very many minutes at all between 5 phones. How many data GBs are you averaging per month?

We have 2-3 users that use alot of data and couple that use hardly any. One of those is on a 3 gb plan because she joined after the unlimited data deal. I don't think I could talk them out of the unlimited data. The minutes do worry me because my daughter is on the plan and uses her phone for work and often talks to landlines. I would love to be able to lower our plan costs. Even try to get them to throw in the new Beats Audio ;)
