I am going to break it down for you one more time and remember this is a seventh grade concept. You are born into an ethnic group, religion is a choice. Jewish is an ethnic group if your parents are ethnically Jewish but that has nothing to do with your actual religious beliefs. Judaism is a religion. You can be ethnically Jewish and be a Christian in faith. Sects of Judaism are irrelevant when talking about someone's ethnicity. I could choose to convert to Judaism tomorrow but that is irrelevant to my ethnicity.

So if someone is born Yazidi or Mandean the same can apply to them as well right? They are their own ethnic groups right?

Yazidis are ethnically Kurdish. Jewish has the unique distinction of being an ethnic group and the name given to someone who follows the religion of Judaism. If you want to apply it to other specific unique situations, then I guess you can but again it's a weird hill to die on

Socialists don't like that because they want to be seen as "perfect" ... and fascists are just evil. It's hard being totalitarian and ideologically separating yourself from fascist tyranny unless you control the definitions.

Also don't forget two other groups on Hitler's hit list - unionists and communists; the last I looked neither of those was a race either. The other point, should there be talk of Hitler at all? The cancel culture was supposed to have eradicated all historic links to people they don't like - like Confederates and supposedly Nazis.

There is actually some debate on that subject. They are indigenous to the region and that does not make them ethnically Kurdish. They have had their own unique culture, separate and distinct, from others in the region for hundreds of years. So yes I would consider them their own ethnic group.

I take it you agree that Mandeans are their own ethnic group since you didn't address the subject.

If you use the lazy American definition of race, then no the Holocaust was not about race.
if you use the racist version of racism of where racism only exists for POC, then no it wasnt about race.
If you use Hitlers definition, it was about race.
If you use some modern countrys definition of race it's a protected class, see sweden. So I would think there it would be about race.

It also depends on how you define the Holocaust. If you only mean the jewish victims of Hitler, or do you include all the other groups he targeted for being different, and not aligning with his world view.

FWIW I don't think Whoopi should have been punished. But it's not my network.

My understanding was always that the Holocaust was specifically about people Hitler identified as Jews, and that all the other inferior people whether by ethnicity or other characteristic (generally political or religious) were just victims.

To the op:

If someone feels they are superior to a different ethic group and treat them poorly or differently would we not consider them racist?

There are multiple ethnic groups. Jewish, Yazidi, Mandean, Basque, Irish, Welsh, Albanian, Bosnian, Kurdish, etc. Seems you have an issue with me pointing that out. Why is that?

When have I stated any issue with any of those being ethnics groups? I’ve simply stated that you asking me if x is an ethnic and then if y is an ethnic group, is annoying.

Do you intend on asking me to confirm the validly of all ethnic groups? Is that your stated intent or do you plan on getting to your point?

I've answered a question you asked and gave you multiple examples. Seems like your knowledge is extremely limited on the topic of history and other ethnic groups. Which is no surprise really

Why are you so offended by someone asking you questions? I thought this was an open forum.

Do I have to know all the world’s ethnic groups to understand that Jews are both a religion and an ethnic group?

I don’t understand your “point”? Must one be able to name all the currencies of the world to have a valid opinion on crypto?

And Yazidis and Mandeans are both an ethnic group that practice a religion that is distinct to only those groups.

Why does that offend do that I bring that up?
