Islam, is it a religion of peace or war?

Historically, these religions trace their roots back to Abraham. For that reason, many consider they worship the same God. Even if you consider their version distorted and warped, they share the same roots. That is an accepted fact. But I'm not going to get into an argument of "not my God!" No one wins that discussion, even though I'm sure some think they do. JMO, but I don't think any of us can claim to definitively speak for God. That just comes across as arrogance to me.

The scriptures have the authority not man. And same roots but not the same God.

You can get one of those nearly anywhere. That proves nothing...😁

If PhDs are so readily available, do you have one? And if you think the PhDs in Catholic Theological Schools are easily come by, you are dead wrong. A friend of mine just graduated with his PhD from Saint Louis University (Jesuit school) and his program was rigorous.

I didn't say they were easy to get, but you can get them from many different sources and beliefs. You know that is true.

It is my opinion that you have to go down that rabbit hole. The Bible must be the foundation of our theology. How can we build it any other way? Why should we build it any other way?
If we don't have God's word to man, then we don't have anything!

Sure, that's the foundation of Christian theology. Of course, Muslims believe the Bible has been corrupted and Jews probably have a thing or two to say about the new testament. There are also significant differences in how Christians interpret the Bible and there are different versions of the Bible itself.

Exactly and the scriptures are God's word to man.
I bet Muslims claim the same about the Quran.

I don't claim to speak for God. I don't claim to know God's will. And I don't believe knowing the Bible means you know God's will. As I said, to me, that is arrogance. And that is what I believe. Historically, from something all these religions accept as fact, these religions all trace back to Abraham. That is why many consider them as worshiping the same God, though each religion has its twist. If you don't believe that, it's your right. It doesn't make you right or wrong, just as someone who does believe it isn't necessarily right or wrong either. Follow your faith and beliefs, and let others follow theirs. For those of us that believe in God, He shall be the one that sits in judgement.

When everybody equally believes they are right and everyone else is wrong, and those beliefs are incompatible, chances are that nobody is right.

Not ones that count for anything. You can get one from some online huckster or back water Bible school but they don't count for crap.

All the more reason to study carefully the Bible and make sure it's God's word!

This is why I've always said the term "atheist" is a hollow descriptor. We don't have a special name for a non-belief in astrology or alchemy or a non-belief in a certain religion. For those of us that aren't racists, do we call ourselves "aracists" or the belief "acracism"? What exactly is a non-belief anyway? We all don't believe in a lot of stuff but we don't go around labeling ourselves or others by their non-belief.

Just curious.. how old do you think the earth is?
Yes I am a young earth creationist. I simply believe that the Bible is the inerrant, infallible, perfect, preserved word of God. And I am not one bit ashamed of my beliefs.

I've been ridiculed much on here for those beliefs. Didn't mean to sound hateful in any way.

You definitely didn't sound hateful. I didn't mean to come off that way either... I just can't wrap my head around that way of thinking.

I understand, I was 25 when I got saved and my whole life and way of thinking changed. Some things faster than others but definitely different. I have a completely different outlook on life life now. It's been nearly 20 years ago since my conversion to Christianity and I believe it now more than ever.

Again, I'm sure Muslims would say the same about the Quran, and Jews the same about the Torah. Lots of people have faith, just not in the same things.
You are right, but just because someone believes it doesn't make it right.

Have you been to the Arc in Kentucky?
