That's a nice story for someone who wants the current status quo to continue, and, you contradict yourself. The last two centuries, and in particular the last 150 years, saw huge changes there; your comment addresses that. The last 200years change nothing. Before 1948 there was no peace in the land there were more Arabs than Jews and there was constant violence. The “peaceful pre48 crowd” likes to ignore that because it was widely the Jews being killed and oppressed so it was mostly peaceful. They like to talk about “the evil Zionist” but the reality is that Zionism is a response to those atrocities and starts long before 1948
Those same attitudes and actions against Jews didn't exist during and pre WWII in the land currently called Israel? That's a nice story for someone who wants the current status quo to continue, and, you contradict yourself. Zionism grew because of atrocities in Europe against Jews, no?
Pretty messed up
To a certain extent but a) that's not the point and b) a lot of those attitudes and actions were stoked by Zionist immigration. The question is the impetus for Zionism, which per what i've read was European anti-Semitsm. The Levant isn't in Europe. Those same attitudes and actions against Jews didn't exist during and pre WWII in the land currently called Israel?
Or was it ok because they were just Jews?
Yeah, those pesky Jews, how dare they want to govern themselves and live in the land of their ancestors. To a certain extent but a) that's not the point and b) a lot of those attitudes and actions were stoked by Zionist immigration. The question is the impetus for Zionism, which per what i've read was European anti-Semitsm. The Levant isn't in Europe.
That last sentence makes no sense.
