Haha—thanks for the insider information. Nobody likes to lose. But if you don’t have clarity about where our program is now from the last 15 years then I believe your narrow outlook is childish along with boosters/fanbase. Kirby Smart walked into a stable program—but it grew stale. Same could be said Saban—they just walked in walked and took it over the top. We have to have build stability before we can win anything of substance. I’m not saying Hype is going to win us any chips but at the very least he is building some stability. If this grows stale then at least we will be in place for TN to be a program that someone believes they can take over the top. Nobody of any substance wanted to touch us after Lane /Dooley left. That’s the mindset we need to have about our situation. It’s a everything now world but that will just lead to more pain/suffering if we just turn on a guy that has actually done very well with the hand he was dealt. Don’t lose sight of the forest for the trees. GBO.

CJH is supposed to be some offensive genius…. Well he isn’t and never has been..

Hear me out.

I’ve gone back and studied all of his 5 years coaching offense in the SEC(1 game shy) and the results are glaring. The man feast on bad teams, runs up stats and routinely gets embarrassed by the good defenses.

Here are the results when you look at his pts per game against OOC opponents(not counting bowls) vs his pts per games vs 9 win SEC teams…

CJH offenses average 44 pts a game against the lesser SEC teams and OOC opponents.

CJH offenses average 23 pts a game against 9 win SEC teams. (Keep in mind that incudes 52(bama), 45 (Kentucky) and 40(LsU) so without those 3 that’s awful.

So let’s face reality. No QB named Nico is going to make this offensive scheme better. Heck we played one good defense a year ago and were embarrassed with a a very good QB in hooker.

We have a coach that puts up big numbers against bad teams and gets his fat ass whipped against good ones. Always has and always will!

Yeah but that is true of any offense. You are always going to feast on the low hanging fruit.

We hung 52 on bama and 40 at LSU, good teams.

Take the emotion out of it and just look at the numbers…

44 pts a game vs 23 when we play good teams

That’s way more than it should be. We
Led the country is scoring offense a year ago scoring 5 more pts than Georgia did per game…

No one is their right mind would come on here and say our offense was better than theirs.

JH offense doesn’t work against the good defenses and that’s proven over the course of 5 years
For this "analysis" to carry any weight, you need to run the same number for all other teams. Is it typical for a team to have splits like this? Even good teams?

There's lots of other weaknesses in your argument, but I'll start with that question.

Cute post but you won’t find comparative data because NO ONE runs this offense. The closest thing to it was Chip Kelley at Oregon but even he realized it was just a fad that once teams figure it out it can’t win big anymore…

Not only does this offense fail to be successful against good teams it also gets easier to defend as teams get more familiar with the system. Look no further than year 3 at UCF where yea CJH saw a big decline in his programs success

The closest thing would be Ole MS, Oklahoma, and Baylor when Briles was there.

This offense is nothing like what Chip Kelley ran and comparing it to that shows how little you know about this offense

The funny thing is what offenses match their production against elite defenses? The argument is completely flawed.

At the end of the day you can’t scheme your way around talent. You can find the best matchups and scheme to those but UGA doesn’t have many, if any, weak spots. We simply don’t have good matchups this year.

Perfect example was on the 4th and inches. We get the first down but against almost anyone else in the nation we run for 10+’yards if not another house call. The defender closed with speed and executed a perfect tackle where most guys just can’t make that play; very impressive. Their DBs get beat and we under throw the ball…. Didn’t do that last year. They get beat and speed catches up; we don’t do that.

The reality is UGA is a historically good team. We are an above average team with injuries.

If anyone thinks we should honestly start over then congratulations, you win the most handicapped award.

The issue is CJH won’t survive here if he can’t win the east.. this entire topic is based off my belief his scheme can never do that. It simply puts too much pressure on the defense
That’s not the original argument, but this argument doesn’t hold water either.

There was once a cooking show where this chef would show up at a random house and use whatever they had in the cupboard and fridge to turn out a gourmet meal. Smart and Saban are like this chef... On the other hand, Heupel be turning out...

Man, you need to look at who the receivers were yesterday….. and who was missing on the Oline.
If S. White is your #1 wr you’re in big trouble.
He’s a good player, but at 5’7” or whatever he’s just not a true #1 at the SEC level. Keyton isn’t either…. Then you’re down to freshmen against top tier competition…. With a very pedestrian QB.
We had 2 passes in the end zone hit players in the hands and missed a wide open Squirrel. We had our shots to be in it late. We didn’t make them

There is no "east" anymore after this year.

His goal will be making the playoffs. If in 5-6 years from now if we haven't made the 12 team playoff, then yeah I can see us moving on.

Smart inheritance of a loaded team doesn’t make him the chef. He’s a great coach but he’s never built anything.

I respect that. The overall topic was a little over the top especially considering I want to keep CJH

I just don’t think the scheme can ever “work”
Good enough against the big boys to win the east and the numbers prove that to me

No the numbers don’t.

No need for name calling

WAIT!!! Hang on a second here…..

The OP is on to something here…let’s all think about this just a second.

A bad defense allows more points to be scored. A good defense allows less points to be scored…and…wait for it….

A great defense allows even fewer points to be scored.

WOW. Mind is blown with that revelation.

Thanks, OP.

I find it amazing that through the past 20 years and all that fresh on our minds that it takes a SINGLE 11 win season to now put a coach on a hot seat with an 8-4 record.

How quickly we forget that a potential 9 win season was getting Butch Jones extensions.

That’s what’s really amazing about this. If he had won 5-6 in year one and 6-7 in year two, the narrative would be 100% opposite.

I just thank goodness that the idiot trolls who have crawled out from under their rocks tonight are the minority of this fan base, because this place is the embarrassment tonight, not the coach or the football team.
Nobody knows or cares about random guys on a message board. They all see the scores on the TV though and 38-10 after 36-7 the week prior is what's embarrassing.

Ftr I want to keep JH. I don’t think he can ever win the east here but I’ve been around long enough to know 8 win seasons ain’t all that bad
Kirby Smart is never winning the East again either.

Lolol
I know some of those guys.
They are not “angry”

Well, we've seen it before. Fulmer was never the same after Cut left. Not saying this is what we're seeing, but you can't dismiss it out of hand.
I know one thing-- we just went scoreless in the second half versus the 3 highest ranked teams in the SEC. Thats scary. You normally make "adjustments" at halftime and come out and play better.
Our opponents are making their adjustments and shutting our offense down. Something is really wrong...

Did you know that if your team scores more points than the other team by the time the game ends, your team wins?

Amazing!
