It doesn’t work… it never has…

I’ve said multiple times I don’t want CJH fired but I also don’t think he’s ever having a better year than last year. I’ve lived thru the years where we didn’t make a bowl game and I can appreciate 8 win years.

BUT make no mistake imo the writing is on the wall and this coach with his lack of discipline and flawed scheme isn’t a a threat to kirby and the big boys on any kind of consistent basis

See, this is the kind of thought-free stuff that is impossible to take seriously. Nobody expected this to be better than last season, or for us to get to 10+ wins. To say otherwise is just patently false.

What writing exactly is on what wall? CJH has a lot of work to do, and beginning next year it will be with his guys who he recruited and brought here. Whether we will be a "threat to Kirby" remains to be seen, but to not be looking forward to enjoying the ride is pretty sad. If I really felt that way I could find a zillion better things to do on fall Saturdays.

Amen!!!! If I was as miserable as some on here with the Vols I would move on. Life is too damn short to bitch about a bunch of 18-21 year old college students and a game that doesn’t affect my heath or happiness in life.

Im not surprised at 8-4 as I picked 9-3 before the year but let’s be honest all 8-4s aren’t created equal. 3 Times we have been no shows… non competitive… not prepared to play. That’s the alarming part of this to me. Couple that with the 3rd year at UCF being a similar type decline that’s not good

Given the amount of lost talent and injuries, 8-4 is more than respectable. Yep, there were three disastrous games, and yet we were still 8-4. If the team had melted down like Fisher's A&M teams (with a ton more talent and depth, by the way), I'd be more inclined to somewhat agree with you, but again, just stating a record and game results with no context isn't a strong argument.

There are valid points of criticism. I think we need some new blood on the defensive staff. Hopefully, some changes are coming. The lack of confidence the team played with on the road this season should be a cause for concern as well.

It was your take that Heupel's system has never worked which is so ridiculous.

Well the offense was awful against A&M

As I’ve said the overall topic was over the top… a little too much

However I do believe this scheme can’t win against the big boys and I believe the numbers are worrisome

I think we saw evidence last year that it can .... Tennessee just needs better players.

One of the great traditions that the legions of the miserable don’t know about is…..when we get beat badly at home (it’s happening less often now) in the 4th when only 30k or so remain they have a sing along in the stadium to “friends in low places “. That’s us. Those that stay to the bitter end. Were the friends in low places, but we’re still there for our Vols.

Ftr I want to keep JH. I don’t think he can ever win the east here but I’ve been around long enough to know 8 win seasons ain’t all that bad
He came at knats ass of winning it last year. One overlooked problem we have had this year…. Injuries! We still a couple of years away being able to make up for them. When we he hired Hype not a soul on here including you thought we would be 25 and 10 at this point

Yall boys need to buckle up because heupel is about to start feeling the heat. The armchair spectators don’t understand how angry the base and the boosters are right now.
Really??? We have won more games the last three years than the previous 4 to 6 combined. Do you want to go back to that? The rebuild is still a work in progress. It shows your lack of understanding If you didn’t see glaring problems with this roster then I don’t know what to say. We are still trying to get to 85 scholarship players. Cmon man

CJH is supposed to be some offensive genius…. Well he isn’t and never has been..

Hear me out.

I’ve gone back and studied all of his 5 years coaching offense in the SEC(1 game shy) and the results are glaring. The man feast on bad teams, runs up stats and routinely gets embarrassed by the good defenses.

Here are the results when you look at his pts per game against OOC opponents(not counting bowls) vs his pts per games vs 9 win SEC teams…

CJH offenses average 44 pts a game against the lesser SEC teams and OOC opponents.

CJH offenses average 23 pts a game against 9 win SEC teams. (Keep in mind that incudes 52(bama), 45 (Kentucky) and 40(LsU) so without those 3 that’s awful.

So let’s face reality. No QB named Nico is going to make this offensive scheme better. Heck we played one good defense a year ago and were embarrassed with a a very good QB in hooker.

We have a coach that puts up big numbers against bad teams and gets his fat ass whipped against good ones. Always has and always will!
He also started with only 53 scholarship players his first year here with most of the better players transfer to other teams around the Nation. And by the way, he did beat Alabama and LSU a\nd score over 40 points against on both. the LSU game was on the road.

We went 11-2 last year…
EB... the big difference in last year is we caught Lightning in a bottle with Hooker. He understood pre snap reads and made up his mind in an instant. Joe... not so much. It doesn't do any good to call a play if the trigger man can make the right decision. especially in this offense. I was buying into the pre season hype about Joe, but geez we have guys on the bench that could've done more this year with a just a chance!

The boosters are not mad.

It's amazing how many UT fans want to go through another coaching change and rebuild.

I'll take an 8-4 season over going thru that BS again

Vol fans may be praying for an 8-4 season next year, it may be really ugly in 2024

I sure as hell didn’t.
I reattached poorly to the higher.
Got over it pretty quickly
