It's apparent after Bryce Brown's performance tonight...

best i can remember brown checked out when dooley checked in, there was a lot of drama involved but i think he wanted to play on a real team instead of a sinking ship, he probably wouldnt have even got drafted if he stayed here. ol dools would have probably had him on the bench or been calling plays where he was throwing blocks.

yeah, cp, jh, bray and dallas are all also not getting drafted because they played. Maybe rivera to.

Brown leaving had nothing to do with promises made by Kiffin and getting pulled by his handler and family. Absolutely nothing. It was all Dooley's fault.

If this is due to some phantom "handler", then said "handler" did his job. He protected Bryce and got him into the NFL.

I do see you point and agree with you, but at the same time I don't know that this was necessarily the "smart" decision. Bryce wasn't drafted until the 7th round and though I am unaware of the exact dollar figure, it is obviously significantly less than a 1st-3rd round. It's a risk that would pay off if Bryce were to have long term success, but I don't think I would advise it to anyone in a similar situation.

Kinda like his 4th string role at KSU. I'm clear now.

If he did decide this, who can blame him?

Running backs have a shelf life.

Absolutely. Remember, Jamal Lewis laid down his last year, in Knoxville. Just to blow up the NFL record books for 5-6 years (Like Earl Campbell), and then retire(Smoke weed).

Jamal was injured severely the year before. Bryce got carpel tunnel passing out Gatorade.

Emmett, Barry, Herschel,...there is an endless list of NFL greats that didn't sell out on college. It's called integrity.

So Moses Malone and a host of HS->NBA bballers, all FB players who abandon their fans and SR season (Eric Berry), and the army of Major Leaguers who skipped college are people w no integrity too?

What moral code are you living by that says somebody owes you or some farm team (errrr University) some due to perform for you at their expense?

You apparently have an acute case of sour grapes. The kid is an absolute stud who overcame some heavy odds and apparent family manipulation to make it in the uber elite NFL. Your attitude reminds me of the foolishness around here who called this kid a bust, sucked, not good enough to start, glad he's gone etc. We see how well that's worked out for our dominant run game the past 3 yrs.

Get over it, stop acting like a spoiled child, and give credit where credits due. It'll make ya happier in the long run. JMO.

I agree with this, it seems like there are more rb's that make the most money on their initial contract out of college based on their collegiate stats vs rb's getting better in the NFL.

Considering that the average NFL career for a running back is 2-3 years, I don't think that there is any question that you are correct. As much punishment as they sustain, running backs simply can't count on negotiating a more lucrative second contract.

Herschel was not an NFL great, but a college great.

Stop smoking pot. It severely retards factual thought process. Herschel could run through your dopey face right now...backwards

He played one year at UT, did well, and left. Just be happy for a kid succeeding at a life long dream.

Who's being mature here? The 21 year old who had some adversity and now is a starting RB in the most premier football league in the world...or the adult on a message board criticizing an 18 year old's decision making and calling him out because of a lack of "integrity" when said poster doesn't even know the whole story?

Boom!

So you want our next feature back to skip around and not bring it? Keep going while you are way behind. Dumb post.

As long as elite level talents are forced to play for free in college and the carrot of NFL money is always dangling in front of them as they do so, this is going to be the way it will continue to be. Saving yourself from injury has to be priority number one.

It's the difference of a couple million and a couple hundred thousand dollars in salary. If he sandbagged it was a bad financial decision.

Bryce didn't start cause he earned it, he started cause McCoy got hurt. Carolina run defense is ranked 25 out of 32. I doubt he is going to remain the starter or suddenly set the league on fire.

Good debate ZJ...this is how you do it, have fun and not get personal.

:hi:

People take message boards too seriously. BTW, if you donate millions to the university, make sure you give some to Grude? Okay? Ok. :)

Thanks guys. It was nice to read a debate that didn't end up with someone being called an idiot or having their fanhood questioned because they had a different outlook.

Good job!

I do not watch nfl much, but I have watched MNF the last three weeks. Gruden has put a plug in for UT every week. There are a 120 ncaa teams and I really only hear him Mention UT.
