Lets be honest. Anything is an improvement but this guy has 3 yrs HC exp. He is unproven and a gamble at best. Where else can u land a multi-million dollar job with 3 yrs exp and a mediocre record to show from those 3 yrs?

Apparently you can make that leap from Louisiana Tech as well.

I never said anything except "oh crap" when Saban was announced for Bama.

My Gator friends told me the other night that they'd be more worried if we hired Charlie Strong than anybody out there. Including Gruden.

We need quick results, I think he can eventually win here, just not right away. A big name to get the fanbase excited and get ESPN and others talking about TN here. To me it looks like 3 or 4 guys rejected UT and we settled on Strong. Not good pub for UT.

To be honest, I think some rival fans want to see us at least somewhat relevant again. The SEC is better when UT is good.

I think this was kind of a low blow, but I admit I chuckled.

You have to understand. Early on in the Gruden epic I was chastised for cautioning people to slow their roll. I was informed I was a Dooley lover etc. They are reaping what they have sewn.

He's done well as a head coach at Louisville. He dominated as a DC at Florida.

This isn't that hard. The guy can recruit. He has done fine as a game manager.

There is no reason to think he wouldn't do well here.

Not saying it's a guarantee, but it would certainly be a solid hire that could end up being outstanding in the long run.

Lot of upside in my opinion. And yeah, that's all it is, a gut feeling.

Gruden was a done deal at one time according to quiet a few people who had a guy at UT in the know . More smoke on the fire until we hire who we all want GRUDEN!!
And if they do hire Strong , he will not make it in the SEC as a head coach , not enough time at that level to be qualified for being the HC of TENNESSEE FOOTBALL . Bring someone in with some ties to the school to lead our team back to glory . Also someone who bleeds orange to take back the Athletic Department .

You don't have to have graduated from the school in order to win championships. Last I checked that guy coaching Alabama didn't go to school there and he has done pretty well. Just give me a darn good coach, I could care less where he went to school
