I certainly don't get the negativity on here. Especially because I would guess many of them spent multiple years defending Derek Dooley.

Well that's 38 years of season tickets and contributions for me down the drain to get to here. All you big strong supporters run down and sign up for your tickets. There will be some available.

This would not be a settle hire at all. Strong has paid his dues and has been around the SEC and college football for a long time. He has been prepped for this kind of job.

I think tons of schools would wish they had pulled the trigger on him eventually.

Since a lot of you are asking - my stance on Gruden/Coaching Search in Gernal:

I do still think Gruden is possible. Way to much contradicting information out there. Inside the AD there is a lot of conflicting info - from people who should know either way.

I think Strong is a real possibility as well.

Honestly, I still believe it's Gruden - but I will wait to see who is officially announced instead of trying to react to all of the noise.

Strong just feels like a Blanc/Young type pickup. Sure he could end up being great but you don't take his commitment this early

Louisville is in the Big East. Righting the ship in a crappy conference isn't difficult. The top of the Big East is just about equivalent to the lower quartile of the SEC.

Context huh? Just because you throw more money at a guy, does not make him a better coach. Twist it anyway you like. Their numbers in the same cenference are very similar.

Look at past coaching hires in the SEC:

Mark Richt (OC at FSU)
Les Miles (HC at Okie State)
Urban Meyer (HC at Utah)
Gene Chizik (HC at Iowa State)
Will Muschamp (DC at Texas)


How are these hires any different than a Charlie Strong or Mike Gundy hire? You can't always get a grand slam hire like Bama with Saban or Meyer at OSU when those coaches fell into their lap.

The context is that Strong is a proven SEC recruiter, Jones, not so much.
