When I first read this thread title I expected a tongue in cheek thread...poking fun at all the "Move Hurd to *insert position here* threads"....I can't believe I was wrong.

I DO NOT understand why this fanbase wants to take one of the top RB's coming out of highschool...and one of the anchors of this class, and want him moved to any position other than RB.

I know. I refuse to seriously entertain all this "Jalen's too tall to play RB" foolishness any longer.... moving onto pure mockery, perhaps some satire at this point.

This is ridicolous......shut the thread down. Jalen will play RB and WR
We have plenty of QBs leave him where he will contribute and do the best!

OK - fair response. I have not hurd that or read that about hurd.

And just curious, does anyone in VN have any substantive proof that Hurd could not be a QB w/the right coaching?? And not just your personal gut feelings, but proof?

I don't have substantive proof that he couldn't, but then again, I don't have proof that Mack Crowder couldn't do it either. Mack handles the ball pretty well, can throw short passes through his legs and knows how to read defenses. I think they should consider him!

During a bowl games this past week (don't remember which of the 50) one of the teams playing apparently took I think a wide receiver and turned him into a QB.

With Jalen's height and speed, has there ever been any talk of CBJ and staff exploring the possibility? I mean, it's not as if VN and the coaching staff are even close to being in agreement on a lock on the QB position for next Fall, so why couldn't Hurd be considered?

Well, I guess anything is possible but Jalen said he wanted to play RB. Nothing was mentioned about QB.
IMHO we need him at RB more than QB.
GO VOLS!

Really? Hey I'm 5ft8in 215lbs and about 12% bf. I know I'm an engineer but since I'm big and work out maybe I can go play FB or something in the NFL.

Right? That seems to be the same logic you used lol

When pigs fly!*
*I may have to retract that statement because my doctor just told me Swine Flu.

Alton the pig can fly, but he crashed landed in the end zone. I think he had Georgia, Georgia, Georgia on his mind.

True but Butch doesn't run a Malzahn type offense. If Hurd were moved to QB he'd have to throw it a lot more than Marshall does.

This is the SEC. You can't just put a RB who has never played QB before in there at QB. I know this is just fan speculation and it is the off-season but I can't believe some people actually think its a good idea.

If he can throw, by all means I'd stick him at quarterback. Sometimes you have to think outside the box and think of new ways to win to find success

NOPE! He stated CLEARLY in an interview last week (which one of our Volnation peeps posted) that a BIG part of his decision to come to UT was that he was promised he would NOT be converted to a different position than running back. So good, bad, or indifferent, he will line up at RB.

Thanks. Didn't see that one.

Logic used was we don't have a known QB for next year and JH's size and speed only begs the question....

One doesn't have to be an Engineer or Brain Surgeon to put 2 & 2 together and realize we don't have a reliable Captain for our ship on the field.

In a radio interview Hurd said he can't throw a football worth crap. He will play RB.

If we put him at QB, let's wait till the Florida game....that's the best time.

Seriously tho, AJ Johnson would be awesome as a running back.....if we didn't need him so badly at LB.
