He should take it. He'd be smart too. His success at Vandy won't last long. East won't be down forever and neither will Tennessee. He could do big things at Penn St and with a whole lot better resources than he's got now.

I think he's a really good coach, and a smart guy. Assuming the latter is true, he should be in Happy Valley before most of the east coast is on their way to work. I respect what he did at Vandy, but that program has peaked and he accomplished everything he could there.

Totally agree man
I think he would do well recruiting in the DMV unfortunately. He has ties already in place there. Easier route to a big bowl as well. No matter how much they improve at Vandy they will never make an SECCG. The East will bounce back sooner rather than later IMO. 2014 will be a step or two back for VU on the field IMO.

I hope he takes the penn st job the guy can recruit and he brings energy. If he learned how to coach, I wouldn't want to play his teams.

Franklin is a douche. He's been riding Johnson's recruits and his one recruiting class that is actually playing. He's losing 18 Seniors, most of which are starters. Franklin is however smart enough to realize the window of opportunity is here and now and he has to bust a move now. Next year after a two win season; he wouldn't be considered for ETSU.

Of course JF will take the Penn State job. He knows he is "selling high" as his value has peaked at Vandy. Let's hope the Vols snag a few quality recruits. Good riddance.

The guy can flatout coach. You're either not paying attention or you just got a real bad case of the butthurts not to see that.

Been preaching pretty much the same message here for a while now. Bobby and Robbie followed a strategy of building depth through redshirting. I'm not sure what they're left with this year. I want Franklin to stay because I think his comeuppance is around the corner and I'd love to watch the meltdown. If he does leave they'll lose about half their recruiting class and no decent coach is going to want to walk in there and follow up the best 3 years they've had in the modern era with a depleted roster. Then there's the dilemma that if they don't hire another black coach they'll lose a big chunk of their newfound fan base. This looks like the type of situation where you need to find an alumni who will come back and stabilize the program. MacIntyre has a job. Maybe they go to Jeff Brothers.

He's beat up on lesser competition and teams that are down. He won the games where his team was favored and generally lost the rest. Now he has shot his mouth off a lot, which has gotten VU some attention from the media and with some recruits who may not have otherwise considered them. He's pretty much a black Lane Kiffin.
