Jarnell Stokes names his top 3

I guess reasonable minds may differ from reading that blog. I think it looks good for the Tigers, he literally says: "Another thing I want to mention real quick is that I want to stay home, but if I do stay home it will be a business decision, meaning I’ll go to whatever college I’m going to go to because it’s the best option for me as a basketball player and student-athlete."

There's just going to be too much pull for him to stay in Memphis. He's training with our players, playing pick up games all the time, working out with our strength and conditioning guy, getting 40 tweets a day from our players. Easterwood has been calling this one for 5 months.

Arkansas will be just fine under Anderson without Stokes, trust me.

You think it didn't sound good for Arkansas? He pretty much said Mike Anderson was his favorite coach.

As for Easterwood, if Stokes was committed to Arkansas he would still claim Stokes was a Memphis lock. He hates Arkansas with a passion, always has.

I think it's pretty easy to tell he wants to get out of Memphis. Of course he is gonna say "I wanna stay home". He's not gonna sit there and say he hates the town and wants to leave. If he truly wanted to stay in Memphis, he would. He's trying to let Memphis fans down easy.

That is all that needed to happen to reaffirm his destination will be Knoxville. UT was a big favorite for him before coaching change for a number of reasons, not just the coaches. Now that he is gaining such a favorable opinion of Martin and his staff UT is in very, very good shape at the end of the day.

I think he's being courteous to our staff.

This should be an interesting ARK-MEM battle, IMO.

It also allows Stokes to play with Memphis (verbal) commit Damien Wilson. Though Stokes knows plenty about Memphis so unless Wilson and Stokes form a good bond, I am not sure there is a big benefit for Memphis regarding the transfer to Oak Hill.

There are positives for both, but I think they would rather have him locked down in Memphis for the school year.

Well, that's all the evidence you need to see that this is a beautifully crafted blog by Stokes: the Arky fan reads it and is convinced that Stokes will be a hawg. The UT fan reads it and is convinced that Stokes will be a Vol. A Memphis fan reads it and is convinced that Stokes will be a Tiger.

At the end of the day, 2 of the 3 will be disappointed but life will go on.

Dude, where are you reading that?

Exactly. We all ready it differenty, and like you said at the end of the day, 2 of the 3 teams will be disappointed with the outcome.

Exactly what I was going to post as I read through here. :eek:lol:

Everyone thinks he is a lock for their team.

 Absolutely.

It was so well crafted that I felt as if someone writing skills well beyond that of most 17 year olds had a heavy hand in parlaying that.

Not everyone in HS are idiots. He's an articulate guy and it just takes a little bit of effort to be able to write comprehensive sentences, granted most student athletes seem like they're incapable of it. Jarnell's writing style in his blogs is consistent with his FB profile. A competent 15 year old can write like that. I'm not sure if anyone else had a hand in it. Maybe just a bit of guidance to not reveal any direction he may be leaning.

I don't friend recruits or HS kids on facebook, so I wouldn't know.

I did not suggest the kid was an idiot. To me, it simply appeared that someone probably helped him with, whether that was in writing, wording it, or just with editing it.

Racist.

Yeah be saying MOST 17 YEAR OLDS automatically means I was talking about a specific race.

Fair enough. If you're into recruiting, adding the kids on FB is a great way to get first-hand info. It can also be interesting in one way or another as well (though not always lol).

I get it.

Jarnell is currently the only blog on the site, but if you look at some of the interviews/content and such on the same site, the main writer has the same style. My guess was that Stokes did the blog and the guy cleaned it up just a bit for his site, while retaining the overall message from Stokes.

Jarnell is a very bright young man! His parents are doing a wonderful job raising him, very supportive. He's been a respectful young man everytime I've seem him on and off the court. I hate I'm not going to get to watch his senior season.

So guys do we have a chance at getting Stokes or Proythress?

I think Stokes going to Oak Hill is a good sign that he wants out of Memphis. Had he stayed at Central all he would here all day every day is "you should come to memphis" or "the city needs you don't let us down". Being at Oak Hill i think puts Arky and Memphis on equal ground and gives Tennessee a chance to really get themselves back in

He will be playing with Damien Wilson everyday though.

He might end up missing home. I don't think missing out on Stokes would break Memphis. He's good!

I also feel it wash more him not wanting to play for Applewhite..he was looking at transferring to Southwind, until Melo called him.
