Jeremy Banks out tonight

Agree. Team player would never be used to describe him. He shouldn't have been allowed back on the team the 1st time IMO

We are beyond this point. I was initially against it but he has proven himself. You don't know any details and to speculate takes the attention off the awful performance by the defensive coaching staff and the remaining players.

I think they're saying the NIL deals are bad for college players. I said the same thing when it all started being discussed years ago. Look at A&M. All those new highly recruited kids probably got huge deals while the starters didn't. This needs fixed and quickly with the NCAA.

I'm just discussing the NIL in general, I have no idea why Banks wasn't playing tonight whether it was that or something else.
I agree but NIL is out of the bottle now and there is no turning back time on this one. Entitlement to the Entitled.
Never will it be voided and the NCAA had to do something because CA & several other states passed NIL type legislation before NIL was even being discussed by the NCAA.

Where there is a bad practice there is always California. It doesn't bold well for our Union in general.

Seriously, would anyone be surprised if Banks is all about $, zero indication he is a team guy, from behavior early (disrespect to Police ring a bell), that is engrained behavior, me first, take all I can attitude.

Hooker vs. Banks could not be more opposite.

We’ve had many team guys have run-ins with the law over the last 40 years. With Banks you get a renegade on the field (good way) and since his issue with the cops a few years ago seemed to keep a low profile. Don’t disagree on the difference between the two. But money changes everything sports or not.

I agree it is like trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube, but they need to look at dispersing it among all the players somehow. Like how the SEC money is spread among all the teams.

Wow, Just Wow. I am amazed at how quickly a seemingly high percentage of this fan base can go absolutely apes-s---e over a player issue that they only have rumors on which to base their opinions. A player who we have observed do a 180 and by most accounts has turned a negative into a positive. We may never know the whole story, but he deserves some respect for what he has accomplished to this point. Let's let this play out rather then crucify another young man. All of you Drama Queens need to do a little introspection before condemning someone else.

Not sure this is over NIL money, but If I'm Banks I have a few more games left and about to make great money in the NFL so I'd ignore the noise.

Now if someone was bragging about making this or that in front of all the players that would be different.

It's hilarious. All it takes is one person to say it, can even say it's a rumor, and the majority will take it as gospel 🤣

The other Banks looks like he took the same game off too.
Hard to replace JBanks. Leadership in the huddle.
But TBanks walked into a pretty sad situation with the Defense and the players left on the roster.

We are two years into the rebuild.

I think some of us were thinking we could win an offense only. Defense wins National Championships.
We are going to have some ups and downs in the next 3 years, hopefully we will wait and see.
It was almost "Instant Gratification" but it proves to point that it takes time to rebuild.
Key rules: Don't Panic, take it one day at a time and one game at a time. Trust the Coaches.
We have got the best DL in America. Our Backend will improve and will be an area of great recruitment and progress. It will not happen overnight or with one recruiting class.

Rome was not built in a day.
Do you want it Right or do you want it Right Now. The latter is not the option because it is fools gold and it is not happening over 1 season or 1 recruiting class or 1 Portal Plunge.

Looking at it, these rumors have legs. If Banks was hurt he would've been dressed in street clothes and on the sideline.

That only leaves two things, he was either sick or Banks got in trouble. Whether the trouble is a locker room altercation or a campus one.

I am still gratified. Especially if we end the season with 11 wins.

If true…I bet the underlying issue was this. NIL seems like a cancer ready to spread across every program..in every locker room.

Add a Mercedes to that also.. after I saw him at the dealership I told myself this can’t be good.. but if someone wants to give me a Mercedes I’m gonna take it.. but I can see the butthurt coming from some jealous players.. dunno if that happened but that’s a possibility of things.. oh well NIL

Team NIL Caps is the only way I see this occurring but that goes against the intent/purpose of NIL if you put a CAP on the team. My biggest concern was the balance of money for all the players to a degree.
There is a reason that Employers don't want employees discussing Salary or Pay amongst themselves.

Banks stepped on “T”
Supposed to do push-ups when you do that…
Banks didn’t do it.
Hooker said something..
Banks said something back..
Milton had to step in between.
Was a one game suspension.
That’s going around Knoxville tonight, nothing about NIL.
Someone else also said it on Voluntary Reaction tonight about a hour ago too.
It’s probably somewhere in the middle, but calling Banks a crack slinging criminal is unacceptable. That dude has laid it on the line multiple games throughout his career for Tennessee.
He doesn’t control the pass rush, and simple pass coverage. That falls on the defense coordinator. That’s the reason we lost.
How does that fall on the DC? DC is about lining up the players. We should have brought 5 more often, but we had no answer in the backfield when we did and the adjustments didn't work. With Banks out, we were poor at LB and DB and there's no scheme that will fix that. I still don't know that I have ever watched a game with so many holds and so few calls. I can't help but wonder what the safes of the refs look like. Heck our DBs played so bad, I can't help but wonder what theirs look like 😂

I agree with you. But the fact remains, Bank is the leader of our D and his absence was clear last night. No matter the real reason or rumors, this team was totally different from the team we have been watching all year. Even in the UGA game we still fought hard and only gave up 3 points in the 2nd half. Just heartbreaking. Go Vols

If this (rumor) did happen and no punches were thrown, no reason to suspend him a game.

I have got the feeling that there is more to the story. Some Big "Ifs" and I agree no reason to suspend which makes me believe more to the story.
Agree, whether it was stepping on the T or mad about NIL money, some kind of "physical" altercation probably happened. Banks could've got in trouble around campus or maybe he was sick.

I doubt it was illness or Heupel would've just said "Banks is sick with an illness."
