Jeremy Banks out tonight

Banks has been my player this season. I think he has been the one guy who gave it all he had every game, very impressive. I was against him being reinstated to the team after his suspension and national TV exposure. Since they did not state a reason for him not being available in one of the biggest games of the year, I assume he went off the reservation again.

Yes. Banks is the only physical player who isn't a down lineman. His absence was immediately noticeable. That shouldn't be the case on a Bowl Championship team. A decent defense would have someone else step up. We don't have that somebody this year. Just like the DBs, this an area of dire recruitment needs.
Beasley is the most physical player on the team.

New rumor, from an apparent source:

Banks was playing music way to loud and Hooker went over to ask him to turn it down. He started a fight with Hooker and Milton came over and clocked him. Possibly breaking his jaw. Coach kicked Banks off team
In the post game press conference Heupel said they expect to have Banks back next week.

Best players have been getting "paid" for decades and now it all the sudden is cancerous? Not buying it..

Generally, the best at any endeavor get paid the most. Best to learn and except that early...
That's not a bad point, but my initial reaction is that there is a significant difference. Before payment had to be closely guarded and very secret, it could be a program killing revelation. Also, the people holding the purse strings, because it was illicit, could control things they can't control now.

Now it's open knowledge and can be flaunted in ways it couldn't before, and there aren't people within the program who can control it. Money, ego and youth, rarely end well and that lesson can be very painful to learn.

Or… Banks just has a problem with authority and Hooker was trying to hold him accountable

If they are mad about hookers NIL deals then they’ll really be mad about Nico’s

I have been thinking about that a lot. This is just my observation, not meaning any thing against him. I’m glad we have him, but this is the dangers of changing college football to NFL type marketing.

Nico is a naturally flashy almost cocky type player. It is easy to see in how he dresses. Yes, his confidence very high, but you can tell he likes to be noticed.

Just my opinion here, before NIL this would be seen only as a great player coming to TN, but in todays college game to me it could be a big risk. Of course you have to recruit him if you can.
My concern is what the NIL will do to the college football game that has always been to me more enjoyable than any pro sports.

I get what your saying but in "the old days" pre NIL, the players knew who was getting paid and who wasn't. The players getting lucrative NIL deals are the same players who were getting paid well before. So, the motivation for jealousy and envy was and is still there.

This is more an issue of how life is, how business is, learning to accept that, deal with it and flourish regardless of it.

Hard to replace JBanks. Leadership in the huddle.
But TBanks walked into a pretty sad situation with the Defense and the players left on the roster.

We are two years into the rebuild.

I think some of us were thinking we could win an offense only. Defense wins National Championships.
We are going to have some ups and downs in the next 3 years, hopefully we will wait and see.
It was almost "Instant Gratification" but it proves to point that it takes time to rebuild.
Key rules: Don't Panic, take it one day at a time and one game at a time. Trust the Coaches.
We have got the best DL in America. Our Backend will improve and will be an area of great recruitment and progress. It will not happen overnight or with one recruiting class.

Rome was not built in a day.
Do you want it Right or do you want it Right Now. The latter is not the option because it is fools gold and it is not happening over 1 season or 1 recruiting class or 1 Portal Plunge.
Right now was never an option with this roster. The defense hasn’t grown. Even Rome fixed an aqueduct when it saw it was broken.

I think that’s what has happened to Texas A&M

Banks signed pre NIL and those players rarely get meaningful deals if they aren’t spotlight players like QBs. Separately Banks hasn’t been able to get a deal based on the circumstances of his arrest. They’ve been looking for a workaround for months. This week he lost it in the locker room, skipped meetings and classes. Hooker called him out, and they got into it. Banks obviously isn’t handling this well, but it’s gotta be hard for him to deal with teammates driving new cars from their NIL deals while he gets nothing. Odd circumstance. Banks being out hurt us way beyond his contributed tackles.
Hopefully, he will get his priorities in order and amends can be made today, if not sooner.

If Banks wanted a nice car maybe he should just be better? Like what big time sponsorship is he going to get as an average at best linebacker

Yeah, I noticed that body language, too. And I didn'thave a good feeling about it, either. But scratching the back of the neck while looking away could mean he was reviewing the week in his mind to see if there was something about practice that was amiss. I'm no expert on body language. I wish I was. But I picked up some vibes there, too, just like you. I'm just not sure what they are.

Scratching back of neck and looking away could mean he was wondering if he would now get that big raise he was expecting, and what would he tell the wife.

Agreed. 5* redshirt Freshman being paid big money while the players on the field have no deals.
A huge problem for the NCAA and was my main concern when NIL was being discussed. Money to the players needs spread across evenly like the TV contracts are to each team.

That's what happens when you have The Jonas Brothers turned up

Your reading comprehension is not strong.
I can assure you It’s better than yours. But I wasn’t really responding directly to your message as a criticism. Just responding generally to the idea of him being mad that he gets nothing. Like i semi get it but also you’re an average linebacker. Not really an NIL royalty position

Not sure about this based on heupels comments at the post game pressure about those who missed the game should hurt as well who will be there next week or something to that affect
