Well, let’s pretend he makes an NFL roster, let’s say the Chiefs. There’s going to be a lot of guys that make a $hit ton more money than him in that locker room too. The quarterback is always going to be the star and make bank because that’s the most important position in sports right now .

Regardless of whether or not the incident in the locker room with Banks is true or not, I saw a team that did not play with heart tonight. They didn't want it as much as SC. Players gave up, got frustrated, made mistakes, chirped too much, etc. And team captains/leaders didn't step up much either to help calm the storm. Basically, the wheels came off the bus. Our inadequacies were exposed just like in Athens. And those who were watching football all day saw a classic upset Saturday phenomena occurring around the nation. Some teams overcame, some did not. It happens.

This was a big test with unranked opponent, and we failed! It hurts but I still think we are headed for brighter days ahead. Gotta keep recruiting and maybe make some coaching adjustments. Our D needs a lot of work. We just got a little ahead of ourselves with the rankings by knocking off some big teams, which is great but we couldn't deal with the bullseye on our backs and all the attention and crowd impacts. Hang in there everyone! We'll get through this and still go to a good bowl.

Seemed like the MLB tonight was a pretty big deal for us. Not disagreeing on the scenario, but if he gets drafted he’ll be happy with NFL money regardless.

Not hurt- coach would have said.
Not grades- no finals
Didn’t fight non team member- no news coverage (certain assault charges)
Drug test fail- wild card, but not looking like it based on info.
Team fight- hush hush and no clear concise answer

Under no circumstances was Banks ever gonna get drafted. He leads us in tackles...but week in week out he is THE lowest graded player on our defense by PFF...which is run by NFL scouts. He is a huge liability in pass coverage. Just being honest here.

Anyone doubting this, go check out Pro Football Focus. They rate every player, every snap, of every UT game. Banks has finished with the lowest grade on defense in every single game i have checked them this season. Every.single.game.

He is a monster vs the run though...and a leader on defense. If these rumors are true then much of this loss is on him.

The offense scored 38 points. None of the 4 teams ranked higher than us scored 38 and they all won their games. Our defense was terrible in every possible metric.

Not sure what you gleaned from this, but my reading is that Banks is not in the dog house. When asked about Banks, he said he wasn't available tonite but expected him back for the Vandy game. Heupel typically does not speculate whether a player will or will not be available for the next game when there is a question about him. Recall that the situation with McCollough (I think that's the guy) when he was in legal trouble Heup would not speculate on whether he would be back. Saying that he expects Banks to be back next week seems to say these rumors are not true. Of course, i'm just taking an semi-educated guess.

Watch out. People are going to roast you for citing PFF as if they know more than a company that is dedicated to scouting and analyzing players

Why? Handled it by keeping him out of the game. That’s the punishment…happens again or doesn’t chill then he might be gone anyways after next week. Opt to sit out the bowl game. Guys fight in practice/locker room. Handled this time but who knows on strike two.

Banks will be slinging crack and running from the police in Memphis if he doesn’t change his ways. He has been given another chance to succeed at UT and I sincerely hope this rumor isn’t true.

This is the ugly side of NIL. Will truth ever get out? Not likely. If you really think that SC team could put up 63 on the #5 team in the country, I’ve got some ocean front property in Vonore to sell you.

yep. You got QB1 on tv, new Mercedes and NIL deals to help him along financially around 6 figures. Im sure it gets uncomfortable for players wondering where their payday is as a starter.
