Jeronne Maymon update

Tim has been quiet since Maymon got here, Quinn sought him out for this interview. The way I read the article is this....his knee is 100% fine structurally in reference to the surgery that his son had in the off season. There now is a setback (that goes unnamed) that is causing his son to rehab slowly and work himself slowly back into playing shape. Also, dad could be trying to do some damage control for future sit downs with GMs that maybe would be worried about that knee.

Heard anything about Hall's hamstring injury?

Read the signs.
There is a very good chance he won't return next season.
Dad holds the keys.

I disagree with you, he'll be back. Maymon is not going to get drafted after sitting out a year. We are talking about a mid to late second rounder pre injury, not a lottery pick. Missing a year and injury questions will only drop his stock. I like Maymon, my second favorite player ever. But let's be honest he is a 6'6 post player, that isn't an athletic freak. I doubt GM's are gonna burn a pick on him.

You're probably right, but I'm wondering why Martin is still looking at bigs for the 2013 class. No schollies left if Maymon red shirts.
I guess there's always the chance Stokes could start playing to his potential.

Player attrition is common, don't want to be caught with no plan if say Q or someone decides to transfer.

Well, all of CCM eggs were in the AN basket. Since he decided Memphis was a better fit for him, that did leave CCM roster next year potentially thin in the post. He can get by with Stokes, Hall, Yemi and Q this year. Maymon, Stokes, Yemi and Q next year and have a solid 4, 5 covered in the rotation. Could have been a major weakness with just Stokes, Yemi, and Q. Maymon redshirting could potentially give UT a better roster next year, give CCM another year to get a good big, and the AN snakebite should never really come back to haunt us.

Agree. I've maintained all along that age will also be a factor in pulling the professional trigger after this season. Playing a season in Europe will look more attractive than playing for a team as offensively handicapped as this one.

Maymon will participate in senior night activities if he is playing or not.

And technically Maymon is listed as a RS Senior.

I was wrong thinking NBA but pretty sure Tim will opt for Europe or even d league rather take the chance of another injury.
Tim's always been in it for Tim.

Where is Maymon listed as a RS Senior?

Edit: I found him listed as RS-Senior on UTSports.com. That is obviously wrong since he has never red-shirted. Also, in the media guides for the games he is listed simply as a senior.

So you think he's gone regardless?

As far as the offense, the offense looked much different with him in there last year, I'm sure he sees this.

And that listing is incorrect, it's already been confirmed he has his redshirt.

CCM was scouting Keanu Post well before ANs flip flop.

We'll see, I just see very little chance of this, Maymon and his family love Martin/Tennessee. Also, Maymon loves Stokes, and those 2 will only benefit from each returning.

2 words: Robert Hubbs...

A senior Golden and McRae and Hubbs will not be a handicap offense. Why are you always negative?

I'm gonna try not to be as harsh, but I was thinking and was going to ask the same.

As I've said, there's never a positive post coming from him. We beat Wichita State and it's thanks to the refs. We land Robert Hubbs and it's, we'll see if he's here on campus next year. Now it looks like Maymon will return for another year and it's he'll go to Europe instead.

Everything just seems to be negative, I don't get it. I understand he may not feel Martin is the man for the job, and hey that's fine he can have his opinion. However, how you can't be somewhat optimistic ever just really amazes me.

Personal attacks aside, the handicapped offense is a reference to Martin's style.
Watch the game against Presby tonight. If Martin regresses to the slow down , motionless motion and we don't beat this team 20+ points, I'll be very worried that he can't change.
As far as what Maymon will do after the season: that's up to Tim. My money-he's gone, but JMO and 1 other.

I see the personal attack on me with reference to my mother was removed.

You believe Maymon will return because that benefits UT. I believe Maymon earns $200K next season because that benefits Maymon.

What's negative about that?

Hopefully.
The way our luck runs, someone will take a chance.
Wasn't he being projected a second rounder before the injury?
You realize the NBA draft only has 2 rounds and being projected as a second rounder is a good reason not to go pro...right? It is the equivalent to being a 7th round draft pick.

Secondly an injury especially a knee injury hurts draft stock and the only place to drop from second round is Turkey.

Can you not say that about about several others on the team as well? Golden & McRae especially?

Taken in full context what you originally said is negative. The unfaltering negative campaign you have had against Martin from Day 1 is the basis of that context. Your post history is 100% negative at every turn in regards to this coach.

Calling Martins Offense handicapped is negative especially given the fact last years stats show that that is obviously less true than some might think. Maymon being hurt is what handicaps this offense because sadly he is the only consistent offensive catalyst.

The elephant in the room is we don't have players that can create their own offense outside of Golden and Maymon and Golden is lacking in the ability to create offense for others.

We need to seriously start looking hard at getting some real point guards on this team. We haven't had anyone approaching a real PG since Maze. Lacking that guys that can feed the post would be helpful too. Stokes is not a scrub but he needs someone to feed him because he cannot create on his own and the lack of someone to feed him is stunting his growth.

I truly believe CM will get it done eventually but it is going to take a few more years at best and some real luck on the recruiting trail/injuries. For some reason this school seems to get recruits that are flawed. You put them all together as a whole and they are great but one injury derails it all.

Until we get that one complete player (like Maymon) and keep healthy we will continue to have these conversations. Or better get more than one..they don't have to be all world one and done guys just guys that have well rounded skill sets because pretty much everyone we have is a one trick pony/utility player.

Are you a surgeon?

How does having an infection you got because of the surgery mean that the surgery didn't fix what you were working on?

Surgical site infections can delay or even completely ruin the healing process. (And yes, I am a surgeon). I'm not saying that an infection is the problem here. Just stating a fact.

That being said, I wouldn't expect Maymon back this season.

You have a negative approach on every post you post and you would think as a fan you would give some credit to your team, when credit is due and I haven't saw you do that once.
