Jeronne Maymon update

Yes he said that, but that's also the same guy that mistakes Josh for Yemi on a mid range jumper haha.

Quinn commented about Maymon the other day, said its the weirdest basketball incident he's covered in 8 years. Also said there are multiple issues that are really keeping things from being made public. Someone asked if he had done something or was In trouble, Quinn said all issues are injury related.

Now, completely my speculation and just snow balling...did Maymon maybe catch something that could be embarrassing to release details of? I mean I don't even know what that'd be, I'm no doctor, but something maybe he could've contacted via sex or drugs? Once again just snowballing, because something is off here, if it was as simple as an infection from surgery I believe it'd have been made public. Isn't staff kind of a sticky or weird situation, maybe that's it and then don't want details getting out, once again just snowballing here.

The simplest answer is often the truth. I'm going with post-surgery infection until Martin or Maymon says otherwise. But this being UT, some kind of weird scandalous disease wouldn't surprise me either.

What could he had caught sexually that would cause him to miss a game? I'm a little confused here. Magic caught HIV and played and that was in a time period thought it could be caught by a hand shake.

I think he just wants to RS so he can make history and be on the best team in Vols history :) and bring home a banner.

Idk I'm just throwing stuff out there, seeing if anyone has any ideas. The situation is very odd, and it seems like if it was a simple post surgery knee infection that that'd have been confirmed possibly.

The comments by Quinn yesterday seemed very odd.

Yeah I know what you are saying man, I'm really confused too.

I don't agree with this. If he goes to Europe, besides the D League or a summer team, I don't see him going to the NBA at all. If he comes back next season, most of his classes will be completed and he can take the Dane Bradshaw route of playing a season and getting extra workouts in while others are in class. He looks like a pretty hard worker so no doubt he'll be even stronger next season. The whole team will be far more seasoned, Yemi is constantly improving and Stokes will be even more of a beast and then you add in a pure shooter / player in Hubbs and Maymon's target isn't nearly as large. He's still undersized in the NBA but if he developes more of a consistent shot away from the rim, it would be hard not to see him getting a chance to play.

Frankly, my no reply was more for Maymon's NBA potential than rather if he returns to college or not. I've been to 40ish NBA games in the last year and I can confidently say there is not a single team that Maymon can play for. It's not a personal knock, he's just not NBA talent. He's Wayne Chism without the jumper. He works hard, but he's not brining anything to the table that isn't a commodity in the league.

I see Maymon cashing out and making money professionally while he can. Waiting another year only prolongs the reality of where his future is. Add to that his age, and it's really a one-way decision if he wants a career playing basketball. Now, maybe he comes back next year and stays in school and gets a real job after basketball season. Who knows.

I'm not an expert but I haven't heard anyone from UT comfirm any of what is being discussed in thie thread. Someone took a thought and turned it into fact according to some in here. He may very well have an infection but UT has not officially said anything. People are just making this stuff up. Let's just all be cautious and let this deal play out. I really hope we can make the NCAA tourney this year with the team we put on the court each week.

No one threw out a rumor, it was reported by Rob Lewis, who is a basketball writer for volquest (he knows his stuff).

If its not an infection what do you see the reason being for him not playing?

has anyone on here actually had an infection after a knee surgery that can comment on this? It seems if that's all it was it wouldn't take this long to heal..Maymom seems like a good guy, I would be shocked if this was non-injury related.

The funny thing to me is Miller isn't back either and no one is obsessing about him. Granted he's not as important a player but there isn't any extra speculation on his injury even though he has been out as long as Maymon.

That's an odd one to to he honest lol, he's just not as good so it's easy to forget about him.

His surgery was supposed to have him back in time for the season iirc, not sure what's happened there...

Maybe someone should ask Martin about Miller. Maybe that will shed light on Maymon.

Inside a joint staph infection is about as nasty as it gets. It's in the joint, so it can affect bone and soft tissue, and it's in the bloodstream. You just cant put some KOpectate on it and watch it disappear like hungar games wounds

What was that infection Peyton had in his knee? If I remember correctly he played his last bowl game on mostly one leg

I get the feeling with Miller that - if he hadn't been a returning senior - he'd have gotten the Washpun treatment at the end of last year. In fact, it wouldn't surprised me if Cuonzo told him, "you can come back and finish your degree, but you won't play if you do."

Checked our depth at Forward position lately?
Even worse next season if Maymon should opt to Europe.
