Regarding the buyout, I'm not going to get into details.
The university and their lawyers believe they have cause and would win a legal fight.
Mac may choose to fight it (almost no doubt he will).
So, where the university is showing some guts financially is they are willing to go to court, possibly lose, and pay the buyout than keep him around.
Now, obviously, they wouldn't do it if they didn't think they would win. But, there is some risk.
I believe, and am willing to bet, there will be a settlement.
