Not a bad guess actually. I've been hearing those rumors for a month now and it may be something that is already being hashed out at the table. If Miss. St. season tanks, that might be a sign, but he will not be able to announce or make a move until the end of season, and current players are already in love Randy Shannon. This could cause problems. I believe this to be a major mistake by Florida AD. It was a rushed and emotional decision based on Fan pressure. It will come back to bite them.

So, if I'm reading this correctly, the ad who fires their coach the fastest is the better AD. Seems legit!

Actually I worry that Florida opening makes Currie more likely to wait a year as doesn't want to compete with a rival THAT CERTAINLY WILL PAY MORE! Not that they are better suited necessarily but will.

What if UT hired McElwain? Definitely has the experience. Success as head coach, pretty good Offense at Bama, 2 recent SEC Championships, and would seem to be better than Butch. He makes less than Butch. Keep Shoop and Gillespie, maybe Hoke. Just saying.

I know what you meant but No he doesn't have SEC CHAMPIONSHIPS. if he had those the Florida people wouldn't care about fake death threat claims. He has represented the east twice. That's a feather but not a feather of much count to put in your cap.lol

The only difference is we would be apologizing for beating Kentucky instead of losing to them. Outside of that we would be exactly same ole same ole.

And that buyout? Why would we do that to ourselves? Fact is McElwain is a decent coach, not quite up to Florida's standards. If we had a head coach who wasn't a terrible in-game coach, we'd probably have won the last 4 meetings versus Florida instead of just 1.

At this point if we can't sway the big dogs (Patterson, Peterson, Kelly, Gru---Ill stop there) then we better be ready to "settle" for a mid-tier up-and-comer -- Frost, Norvell & Morris come to mind. Also Pruitt, Venables, and maybe Daboll (Bama's OC) are viable candidates. I think Pruitt and Venables would be ready for that jump. Not sure about Daboll.
