Yes...It would...It would also be embarrassing to UT to hire a guy with that shady of a past with the NCAA.

I'd love to have Tressel. That guy can coach. I would rather have him over all of the other candidates we're doing after.

He left his last 2 schools with NCAA sanctions, third time is a charm right? Sounds like a great combination, a school on probation with a coach who has lead 2 schools to NCAA sanctions

I still don't think what he done was that bad. Then again I was pissed for months because I thought Bruce pearl never should've got fired.

I don't trust Petrino at all. I would be afraid he would leave us in the middle of the night.

Just because someone was forced out at one time does not mean that they are forever undesirable as a coach.

It just meant that in order to protect the school from further penalty at that time, it was the better move to fire the coach.

Bruce Pearl would have been kept had it not meant that we would have gotten hammered even more severely.

But I fully expect to see Bruce Pearl coaching again somewhere.

And I fully expect to see Jim Tressel coaching somewhere as well.

Will it be Tennessee? Probably not. Just saying, I don't think it's a big of a deal to take him as people say. The man made a mistake, and handled things the wrong way. In all his years of coaching, the only thing he's ever done (he wasn't officially cited of any wrongdoing at Youngstown, just faulted). I just don't see why he wouldn't be a possibility.

NOBODY we hire is going to walk in and be able to beat Oregon at Oregon their third game into tenure. Not even Gruden. I wouldn't expect it, nobody would.

Bruce Pearl didn't really do anything initially, that would have gotten him into major trouble with the NCAA. Having a recruit at a barbeque is a secondary violation. He got in hot water for lying directly to the NCAA.

The NCAA does shiz like this...take something that ain't squat and make a federal case out of it. I hate them. They are a flat out menace to college football. They drag their feet with Clearinghouse stuff and they start investigations over a cup of coffee not having enough creamer in it.

If we have to settle for somebody like Fisher or Golden, then sure, why the heck not. I have more confidence in him beating Saban than the previously mentioned jokers. That is after we clear all our probations and such.

Here is the difference between Tressel and Petrino.

Tressel has occasionally messed up by not doing the right thing on a minor issue that the NCAA blew up. Twice in his long career has he gotten into NCAA issues, and neither of them in my opinion were that huge.

Petrino has perpetually messed up by not doing the right things in the understood code of conduct observed by human kind. He has just exhibited scumbag behavior over and over again.

Here's the difference with that.

Mommas in a living room can understand NCAA mistakes that won't be made again.

But it's hard to persuade momma you care about their boy when you cheat on your wife with a student, lie to administrators, and walk out on people in the middle of the night.

That's why I think Tressel will be okay. Petrino would most likely not work until his dust clears. I doubt he ends up anywhere this year. Too many people doubt his character. You can only get so many strikes before people write you off.

Some would argue that as well. The only question is, are wins still wins if they don't count? Ohio State right now is winning every game, but at the end of the day have nothing to show for it.

Wins are great, but if they don't lead to championships or playoffs, then they're not worth too much.

Keeping Bruce would have sunk our basketball program.
