Jimbo Fisher

is fisher the best of the best no not really.. I dont know any more about football than the avg fan.. However i do know nearly every coach on the list of names that have been floating around have bad losses. Fulmer had wyoming just to name 1.. Strong lost to uconn . according to coacheshotseat.com bob stoops has "choked" in 16 games and counting now. If I really bothered to do some research I could probably find more in the other coaches names we have.. not saying we should rush out and pay him whatever he wants to come here.. just saying would shouldnt rule him out completely. I doubt he leaves FSU right now anyhow.. my guess is they will give him more money to keep him if necessary.

The difference is Jimbo loses to at least 1 much lesser team every year. He's had the most talented teams in the ACC and still finds ways to lose. If it was just every now and then I could accept your premise. But he does it every damned year.
He's an under achiever.

With the Stoops to UK thing and rumor of the oc going also(radio). Anyone think the Jimbo talk might have a leg to stand on? Makes you wonder if they feel a change in HC may be coming.

Things are quiet now due to FSU being in the ACC title game this weekend. After that game, I have a feeling that Fisher will be named the the Vols HC.

Should we change the thread title to Jimbo Fisher I, just in case we have 138,000 post in here like we do in the Gruden threads.

This guy should be recruit #2 after GRUDEN!

I am not sure about #2. I think it might be #3. IMO Fisher would be a good hire but I think Paterson might be #2

I think that would be a great hire. First of with a name like that he'll fit in perfectly in east TN. Secondly he can recruit like nuts. Let me ask this though. Why would he leave FSU? I'm pretty sure they have a pretty soild tradtion too. Why do we think we can get him?

Its been reported that fisher and hart have a good relationship. also some people have said that Fisher doesnt believe he is getting the respect he deserves for having a 10 win season .. I have also heard it has something to do with the facilities .. just rumors so I dont really know for certain

Gruden, Fisher, Patterson...etc, I don't really care who it is as long as they can get us back to our winning ways. I do believe that whoever the coach is going to be that they should be able to accomplish the following:

1. Get us to the top half of the SEC East by the second year, and competing in a decent bowl game.

2. Get us to a top 15 ranking in 3rd year.

3. Get us to the SEC CG in year 4.

Considering the talent currently on roster, and reasonable recruiting skills that any GOOD HC should have, these are not unreasonable expectations.

VolBeef inc 3...2...1...

You read my mind. He debated me last night that Fisher is bad because he pulls in top 10 recruiting classes in FL.

We will take those classes at UT every year.

Jimbo for HC.

Jimbo Fisher is not leaving FSU for UT. People also said the same thing about Stoops with regards that "he doesn't feel respected there." Not the case. I've heard many interviews with him and he loves it there. I would be absolutely shocked if he left FSU to come to UT.

I dont know if he ever would FSU. He may not.. The acc schedule is not that difficult. however if he wants 1 loss not to knock him out of the National Championship game he might consider coming to the SEC. That statement he loves it at FSU doesnt really mean anything. Kiffin said almost that exact same thing. I am by no means saying he will definitely leave FSU but I think the possibilty exisits. IMO its more likely him than Gruden.

Jimbo just took a team full of SEC talent and got beat down by UF at home (and by essentially the same score as Dooley did). He also lost to NC State (a team even Dooley could outcoach)

No thanks

Also, that UF meltdown was in typical Dooley fashion. Score was 20-13 FSU heading into the 4th Quarter. FSU was outscored 24-6 in the 4th.

3-5 versus ranked.

Fisher would be exactly like Mark Richt for us. Not a bad coach... but not a guy that will win the game when all the marbles are on the line.

Why? Coaches leave smaller conferences all the time for the SEC. Big money and a real place to make a name for yourself. You don't know what your talking about. Loyalty means nothing compared to money. Simple.

I am not gonna get into a full on debate of ACC versus SEC because it isn't close but we aren't talking about Jimbo leaving the Sun Belt here.

While of course the HC has to accept some of the blame that loss was not all on him. FSU had 5 turnovers in that game. In the one game Florida lost they had several turnovers.. Florida defense is far better than FSU and most other teams.
Richt has he team going to the SECCG.. Not really a bad spot IMO
