I'd rather have Jeff (field goal) Fisher than Jimbo.. Jimbo isn't a big name... I'm not sure he's even all that good a coach.. FSU has had some mediocre seasons under Jimbo, in the ACC i might add..
This year's Tennessee team would have had 8 or 9 wins in that crap conference..
You think he could convince them to come up to Tennessee? As it is all he really has to do is recruit his own state. 4 or 5 five stars fall in his lap.. We've seen this before.. We've gotten assistants from top programs and still couldn't get the talent.. Jimbo would face a lot tougher recruiting here..Fisher has consistently recruited top 5 classes over the past 2-3 years. He may not be a big name to you, but he is to high school seniors who can run a 4.4.

nope acc is entirely different from the sec. end of thread. thanks for playing.
For my money, I want Gundy. Already shown he can win, his tutelage can be traced to Mr. Majors through Les Miles, and he's 45 now...that means he's got 5 more years of man on him since he did the infamous speech (and there has to be a good PR opportunity using that speech)...He's got a fire in his belly and a hunger we haven't seen since the early Fulmer years (no pun intended). I think he's the guy. Flame away.
Good points. I would take him. I think Pelini needs to get on the board though for consideration. I am not really that impressed with Strong or his record at Louisville.I don't understand the hatred for Fisher. He's proven he can recruit with the big boys. He's got two ten win seasons in 3 years, could quite possibly go 12-2. Yeah he's lost some games he shouldn't have, but name me ONE COACH IN AMERICA WHO HASN'T! As I stated in another thread. Fulmer lost to Memphis...FREAKING MEMPHIS....then went on to win a NC. Saban lost to LM, Myles lost to UK. Yet he doesn't get credit for beating good teams like Clemson. If we've got a chance to get him from FSU after three straight 5 win seasons, I think that's pretty darn good. As for the big losses...he's only in his 3rd yr as a HC. Ever think he could have went thru growing pains as a HC that others went thru? IMO he's clearly got the best resume of the names I'm hearing we are looking at. And the ACC isn't the SEC, but the pressure to win at FSU is very similar to that of some SEC schools, and a very good prep course to prepare a coach to coach at a place like UT. I think some of our fans are 1)butthurt over the Gruden deal and not willing to give any coach a chance or 2) living in a fantasy land.
We've got a serious chance to get two coaches who are gonna be in a BCS bowl (Strong/Fisher) yet all I hear is "I don't want". Well I DO WANT, and would take him and support Jimbo to the FULLEST until he gives me reason not to. I mean seriously...compare his resume to anyone's out there who is a realistic candidate. I think dude would make a fine coach for Tennessee and be here for a long time. JMO
Can't beat NC State, do not want.
Also Fedora could not beat Duke (our KY equivalent) also do not want.
Could our fanbase live with:
HC-Fisher
OC-Chaney
DC-Chavis or Narduzzi
???
My main concern with a Fisher hire would be could he just be a Fulmer hire at twice the price? 8-9 wins is great with where we are today. At 4 million dollars plus, you expect to win some SEC titles pretty quickly.
