Jimbo Fisher

If Gruden, Stoops, Petersen, Tressel, Patterson, Mora, Petrino and Gundy say no to us. Then I believe Fisher would be the best choice, especially over Strong, Franklin, and Golden.

Why is he the first thing I see when I do my hourly check on govolsxtra.com? Where does all this Jimbo Fisher mumbojumbo stem from? He's got a really really good thing going right now. I thought Gruden was more of a possibility than Fisher. I never though Gruden was a true candidate; I've been on that Patterson train until I saw they went 7-5 in a down Big12 season.

Does anyone back this idea of Fisher? Does anyone think he'd be better with SEC recruits and talent? He lost to a NC State team that Dooley beat...I do think Fisher is 2-1 against UF and he beat SCar in the Chic-fil-a bowl, while Dooley was 0-6 against both teams. Does that make him a prime candidate or even an "acceptable" hire? As a UT fan, I just kinda viewed all ACC coaches (even Cutfliffe) as mediocre or lateral hires...nothing close to a homerun.

I do think I'd rather have Fisher over Art Bryles...

You obviously don't know much about this TCU team. Do you know how many players they lost to injury etc? Did you know their having to play a 17 year old kid at QB because their starter is out for the season?
Many people say this is the best job Patterson has done coaching.

NC St is not a good team. Did you watch UT play them? We had average SEC talent and laid it on them while FSU with better talent lost. Then their late game dive vs UF was ridiculous. Just saying, why hire a guy we know can't hang with the bigs in our conf?

if we're willing to throw out the money reported then we need to absolutely make people say no. A guy like Stoops for example

Fisher has been a HC for what, 2 years? And he has the same record as Stoops that has been at ok for how long?? OK is a powerhouse school.. He should be in the national title picture every single year with the tradition and resources they have. He's built that team himself for years (so no excuses) and they can't get back over the hump because he has peaked as a coach and his style and name has staled.

I think Fisher's best coaching is ahead of him because he's still learning.. But while he's learning, he's still getting 10 win seasons.. That's why I'd have more faith in Fisher.

This is EXACTLY how I see it. Dude is a young coach and has done quite well. Better days lie ahead for Jimbo.

No. Dumbo has been there 3 years and he has lost at least 1 game to a $hitty team all 3 years. FSU had the easiest road to a national title and he blew it. He's garbage. Have you looked at those magnificent 10 wins they have this year?

I've said this before, but my apprehensions with Fisher are that he's never had to rebuild a team in the way he will at UT and that I think he has already peaked as a head coach. I just don't see him improving on what he's already done in a less than tough situation at FSU.

On the other hand, coaches like Fedora and Strong have been in tough rebuilding situations and persevered through it. And I believe that neither of those guys has hit their peak as a head coach yet.

That being said, all of these guys are winners and would be a vast improvement over what we've seen the past three years IMO.

Ok so 2 10 win seasons and a 9 win season, while beating uf twice.. In his first 3 seasons as HC ever.. Sounds good to me.

Like I've said, beating the likes of Duke, Maryland etc is NOT impressive.

Really? Does Momma tell you your special? Who wouldnt want to have ten wins a year, be in the top ten every year and compete for the best players in the country? His offense is power run, play action pass, that wears your opponent down in the fourth quarter. His D is an attacking 4-3 (Chavis anyone?). He is a helluva recruiter. (Dont wanna hear "Anyone can recruit to FSU." He was one of the best recruiters in the country at Auburn and LSU before he got to FSU.) O yea, he wears a huge NC ring! Get a grip man and come back down to earth. We better hope and pray for Fisher! :peace2:

I agree with you he would not be my first choice but I am going to get behind him if hired. I let Dooley ruin the last 2 football seasond for me and I am not going down that road again.

He's an under achiever period.

You can't ignore his 2/3 against UF. Especially when we were 0/3 against them in that same time frame.

And you can't ignore the FACT that of those 3 games against UF this years team is the only one worth a damn.
Also you can't ignore the fact that Dumbo is also 1 and 3 against NC State.

So was Fulmer, and you stuck with him to the end. If he's going to underachieve at 9 wins a year and then luck out and win a NC occasionally, sign me up.

The idiocy on here is amazing. How does it feel to be wrong so much?

GREAT POINT! Big program vs. Big Least Not even a Jimbo fan, but clearly a difference in experience.

Dispute it. He reminds me exactly of Fulmer in his prime at this stage in his career. Fulmer with the talent he had should've won more than 1 NC. In that 1 NC year he almost lost to several teams along the way with inferior talent. They both can recruit, they were both OCs in this league, and they both tend to have losses that keep them from the big game.
