He's not going to win Bama. So he has to get UGA or USCe, not too mention beating a tough MSU and Mizzou team.

Exactly. Just show me something. Anything! Either that or we have to call a spade a spade. Yeah, it sucks he's inherited sucky situations, but other than one game against an 8-5 LSU team in 2010, he's never really led his team inspired against a good team.

Yep , and I don't think there is anyone here who can say with a straight face we are going to beat Alabama. When I said a big rival , I wasn't even thinking about them. He wins that game , he shuts up everyone on this board for awhile.

If Gruden was worth his salt, dont you think he would be coaching in the NFL?

A lot of teams have shown interest and he has said no.

Hard to give up $4M a year when you are basically working sixteen nights a year (I know he does much more, but still).

We've been over this.

Back when he was coaching , he was having some health issues because all he did was study tape and never slept. I think when he got fired he decided to take some time to recharge himself. It's not like he hasn't turned down nearly every decent college job out there. I'm sure he has told some NFL teams no thanks. Now he wants back in and some people are saying he is interested in this job. People like Montrell who wouldn't say this stuff for no reason. If Dooley doesn't cut it , I hope he comes here. Will that happen? I don't know , man. I do think he could turn this place around in no time. But once again my opinion only. I realize everyone doesn't agree and that's ok.

Its sad that they hang their hopes on getting Gruden

We might be lucky to get Kirby Smart for what UT pays

Probably get ULMs coach or maybe Skip Holtz

Would you rather have them over Gruden. In other words , if we pay him and he wants to come to Tennessee , are you for it? Take out the he never will. Just asking if he did , are you against the guy?

I would be willing to give him a shot

Just remember that he is not known for breaking the scoreboard

Don't get me wrong. I said in another post Dooley still has a chance to turn it around. I have never hated on the guy and I'm not starting now. Just not my style. I just know that time to turn it around is running out. I can't take another Saban wannabe hire. Someone that has never been a head coach in Kirby Smart. I also don't want another nobody. Only problem , what you and I want doesn't matter to the people that make the hire if that time comes. But they (Dave Hart to be specific) needs to know his job is on the line too. He better make the right decision if that time comes. I'd love nothing more than to run the table the rest of the year or even get to 9 or 10 wins. It just doesn't look too good at the moment.

You may be right, and if that's the route we take, it will be hard to be a fan. Without a strong in-state recruiting base, I don't see this program ever competing for an SEC title without a very good, well-known coach who can come in and start pulling top recruits.

A highly placed source at Dollywood told somebody that John Gruden bought lifetime season passes to Splash Country.

The ink is dry my friends.

John Gruden reportedly in negotiations to make Cheese-its the official snackfood of the Volunteers. Also, it looks increasingly likely that his office will be on the top floor of the Sunsphere. This comes from someone very high up at Sam & Andy's in Farragut.

Never been wrong before. Book it. TIFWIW.

Tennessee's last 4 football coaching hires:

A national title winner, a young assistant that was getting national recognition, a former NFL coach and Derek Dooley.

Which one doesn't fit?

He certainly is. One thing that really pops out though is that he had no reason to bring us up other than the fact that the Titans play in the same state.

*bump* just to drive you Dooley lovers bonkers:

Oh, the Doorights are gonna love this one. ESPN NFL segment just a few minutes ago...

Those big boys just have to pull their weight, Mike. The skill talent in Nashville and Knoxville makes an offensive minded coach like myself drool.

Where did Gruden say this? I flipped through the re-airing of NFL Live and didn't see it. What show did he say this on? Because, it wouldn't be the first time someone posted stuff that wasn't true to get a reaction during a time like this.

When the coaching search heats up, there are posters with credible reputations from past searches.

FWIW, some of the guys here who proved to have the best insights are: Justin, Lex, SpringBok, and GA Vol.

I'd add Z to the list from observations, but I'm not sure if he posted under a different name back then.

Count must be paid by Dooley as there's no way anyone could actually think the way he does about coaches and UT. The idea that CDD is the only guy who'd take the job, for example, is among the most ignorant recurring posts on the board. And, if not CDD, who else but another loser would consider it... has to be the second most ignorant recurring posts. The consistent theme in both: keep my incompetent boss, CDD, employed.
