Since you know who won't be successful as the next UT head coach, who is your pick to replace Dooley?

IMO you follow a quasi Kiffin model and assemble a squad of killer recruiters. The HC really isn't the biggest difference in CFB, recruiting is. After than get an OC that knows power running but is still creative. Most of the recent coaches that had lots of success did so with excellent staffs.

The guy at Baylor has looked good. I would not hire Strong or Smart.

I always LMAO at people trying to blame the Gruden FAILURE at Tampa Bay on the owners, hahahahahaha.

Gruden won with the TONY DUNGY team and went DOWNHILL every year after that.

Old Al was 1/2 senile when he died but he never ran away from spending BIG $$$ on players he thought would get the Raiders back on top.

Old Al seemed pretty happy to get rid of Gruden and send him to the Bucs so he could avoid FIRING him.

I'll never understand why Grudenites want a FAILED and FIRED coach to take over at Tennessee and set us BACK another 5 to 10 years.

I want our Vols to WIN and NOT to be set back another 5 to 10 years because I won't live long enough to even dream of another SEC Championship like that much less another Crystal football in K town.

So how do you give Dungy credit for Tampa players and Al Davis credit for Oakland. Fact is Gruden won at both. He would have played for a Super Bowl in Oakland had it not been for the tuck rule against the Patriots.

You have ZERO facts of how Gruden would have done with 1 more year at Oakland.

You have ZERO proof that Al Davis would have not FIRED Gruden from Oakland if the bucs didn't take him off Al Davis hands.

The only PROOF we have on Gruden is that he won a Super Bowl with the team that Tony Dungy put together..The same Tony Dungy that build Peytons Colts into a Super bowl winner and that dominated the AFC South.

The other PROOF on Gruden is that his team was in a weak division of the NFL and DID keep LOSING until Gruden was FIRED after losing so many of the Tony Dungy players.

I do NOT see any colleges and I do NOT see any NFL owners banging down the Gruden door to pay him BIG $$$ to come coach for them either.

Gruden is a talking head on tv.

Just because a guy can TALK on tv doesn't mean he can recruit 17 year old kids to come to school and play for him.

It doesn't mean he can coach in the always tough SEC when he could NOT coach consistently in a WEAK division of the NFL.

Gruden can TALK on tv but remember people...Dennis Miller has never coached a football team and he WAS paid BIG $$$ to talk on tv during football games too, LOL.

That's why my number 2 bullet was to get a good OC that knows power running but is also creative. Fulmer had trouble whenever he didn't have Cutcliff, see also Eli Manning.

Give him credit for 16 imaginary SB appearances but his record is still .500 in real terms. Those arguments start to sound like Dooley excuses.

However I feel like it's worth repeating here, though your knowledge seems to overshadow everyone on this board oh Great Swami...

The fact Gruden isn't proven at the college level may be disconcerting, but the fact is that he has coached at the college level at some big time programs. I feel sure he knows what he'd be getting into.

The man also won a Super Bowl, and as a previous poster mentioned would have most likely won a second had it not been for the tuck rule...You can debate the makeup of the roster left from previous coaches and owner frivolity in spending..etc..etc...but a group of recruits will see ONE thing when Gruden visits them, when he coaches them up, and when he's tearing them on the sidelines, and that's that big shiny ring that says he's been to the big dance and won.

The man is a super star in the football world, he's majorly connected and has a killer job as it is. Do you think this expression of interest would be coming from his camp at all (assuming it really is) if he didnt think he'd roll in the college football ranks? He hire a staff second to none, delegate accordingly and sit back and win. To think otherwise is to be an uninformed, irrational cry baby.

All that being said I live the way CDD reps the Big Orange and hope he proves all the negavols wrong...if not Gruden is a wonderful target..

I'm a real Tennessee fan so I support ALL the coaches and kids on our roster.

If, and a huge if right now, AD Hart decides to hire a new Head Coach for our Vols then I'll support that Coach and his staff and players.

I won't whine, cry, bash the coaches, bash the players, bash recruits and act like a immatire idiot like many here do on a daily basis.

NOTE...Acting in those manners will NOT have anything at all to do with keeping CDD or getting a new coach you sad little Grudenites.

You have ZERO to say about what AD Hart will or won't do.

The 1 FACT about you sad Grudenites is that you ARE rooting against our coaches, players and program so please don't call yourselves Tennessee fans when you ARE hoping our boys continue to lose football games.

You freely choose to ignore all facts and reality about UT football and where this program was when CDD was the ONLY coach that would even think about taking on a 100% total rebuilding job of 4 to 5 whole recruiting classes and CDD has only 2 of his recruiting classes on campus and I see lots of GOOD football players in our Soph and Freshmen classes.

We just aren't where all of us want to be...YET.

My only issue with Gruden is how much cash he'll eat up with his own salary that could be used on top notch assistants. That and he's been out of the game and never really delivered on the CFB stage. 8 million is a ton for that many question marks.

I don't have a say, but unless CDD wins 2 of the next four games and wins out, he won't be here
next year.

I have now started to ignore the situation CDD was handed when he got here, mainly because he's shown that he is not capable of winning football games that matter.

FACT is that nobody can judge coaching ability until the team he coaches DOES have a player roster of similar or the same player talent.

None of you Grudenites has any idea whatsoever how CDD and this staff can coach especially with a new 3-4 D that even in the NFL takes 2 YEARS to get down well.

Wouldn't had to have gone to the 3-4 if most of his coaching staff hadn't jumped off this sinking ship. Depth is only another excuse. The only area where there is lack of depth is at LB.

Only idiots would think our current player roster is all SEC type players and are ready to compete against the best in the SEC.

Top SEC teams have had top 10 recruiting classes for 10 straight years or longer and you Grudenite idiots think our roster should be able to compete and Win against them.

I wish we did have SEC type players all over our roster already but Fulmer and Kiffen left our roster bare.
