I don't think it would/will come down to money. If that is the only criteria, then he's not leaving a good paying gig at ESPN/MNF. But he sure sounds like he's conflicted as to whether or not to return to the coaching profession. My only issue with Gruden is how much cash he'll eat up with his own salary that could be used on top notch assistants. That and he's been out of the game and never really delivered on the CFB stage. 8 million is a ton for that many question marks.
Tell me all great knowing one...
When has CDD had a 2 deep player roster of SEC type players that all of then have some real game experience?
FACT is that nobody can judge coaching ability until the team he coaches DOES have a player roster of similar or the same player talent.
None of you Grudenites has any idea whatsoever how CDD and this staff can coach especially with a new 3-4 D that even in the NFL takes 2 YEARS to get down well.
Keep dreaming Grudenites.
Gruden will NEVER coach at Tennessee.
VFL...GBO!!!

In one recent video interview, he was asked about the possibility of returning, and he did say if it was the "right opportunity" he would consider it. Then he goes on to say that he's happy working for ESPN.
Nobody knows...not even Gruden himself, from the sound of it, but if this team does underachieve this year, I think Dooley is gone. Gruden, if approached by Hart, would have the "right opportunity." Dooley has recruited pretty well, and there is an abundance of talent on this team to help him hit the ground running.
No rebuilding prospect involved, like there was in the past. The table will have been set pretty well for him.
I also think recruiting would get a huge boost in the process. Bring in a Kirby Smart or some other unproven, and I think we take a big step backward.
Having said all this, I do hope this team lives up to it's potential and starts back on a winning trend. Don't want Dooley to fail, but I think his lack of a winning resume coming in, puts him on a shorter leash than if he had one.

I'm embarrassed that nobody is talking about Georgia, and instead, are arguing about something that does not affect the performance on the field of our team this Saturday.
It's threads like these that make me miss the day when we didn't have message boards. Because I was ignorant to the fact that so many people are more focused on "being right" than "supporting their team."
Disgraceful.

Good points about recruiting.
Not a fan of Smart being hired.

Everyone here wants to Tennessee to destroy Georgia. What we don't want is to go on ten year losing streaks to UA and UF while going three straight down to UGA and USCe. If a change is made at the helm, we want Gruden. Dooley can still beat USC and UGA. It is on him. If we could get Gruden I would want him regardless of what Dooley does.
