I think Vicki is still drunk from last night

You may be the most worthless poster on this forum.

You and your fellow Barbara Doorights are the most delusional, clueless individuals I've ever encountered in real life or on the internet.

Pulling out fake budget numbers that could easily be changed with a hearing anyway, and screaming that a head coach builds NFL teams are the two most absurd things I've ever read.

CNN's Wolf Blitzer reporting at this hour...UTKFHFCJG was spotted at Zuma off Cedar Bluff racing go-carts with Condredge Holloway and Jeremy Lincoln. Reportedly Coach Gruden put Lincoln in the wall and was quoted as saying," Rubbin' is racin'...Vols B!tch!!" The future head coach was reportedly wearing a vintage Casey Clausen home jersey.

Looks like this is all but locked up folks.

Who all on this board is ready to donate the money for the salary of Gruden? Sure are a lot of fans who like to throw out big names and salaries under the perception that Haslam and others will write a blank check.

When it comes to UT, Jim Haslam and his wife are more about academics than football. Every big donation he has handed UT has had stipulations as to where it is to go and the AD gets the smallest share of the donations. Haslam was also fully aware of the 4 million in black the AD had when he purchased the Browns for a billion dollars. People really need to stop thinking that just because Haslam has donated millions of dollars to UT that he will come to the aid of the AD on a new coaches salary because nothing in his actions the past 20 years suggests that is his intentions.

A $5 increase in per ticket price would more than cover the difference. Advertising would increase, etc.

Im sure Dave Hart has already figured out a budget and worst case scenarios if Dooley has a bad season. You dont just wait until something happens and then start running around like a chicken with his head cut off looking for ways around the budget. Even Mike Hamilton although he acted like that that had a backup plan. If Dooley fails then Dave Hart will make the best decision for the University.

Who is Mike Hart?

$500,000 times 8 games a year comes to 4 million dollars, the exact same amount the AD currently has in the black. That 4 million has to be stretched a long ways to cover baseball, softball, track and field and all the other athletic programs at UT to field teams with.

You really think it's that difficult for this University to hire a coach for 7 million while also balancing the budget?

Pocket change.

Cuts are easily made, and donations are constant. It's really not that difficult of a concept.

See... I'm starting to wonder if the economic analysis includes selling tickets to Gators, Dawgs, Bammers, and so on. They basicially pay to come to Neyland to see their teams whip the Vols.

It's a repulsive concept, but is that how they're figuring that losing works economically?

I doubt that's how they're looking at it. If it were that would be truly pathetic. Of course I remember Dickey selling UK gear in Thompson Boling. Lol

1. We just spent 100 million renovating Neyland.

2. You increase revenues enormously by winning. See Crimson Tide, Alabama.

From Yahoo sports:

In 2006, the year before he arrived in Tuscaloosa, the athletic department brought in $67.7 million in revenue, mostly from football, and spent $60.6 million. Last year revenue was $124.5 million and expenditures were $105.1 million -- leaving a $19.4 million profit, according to figures compiled by USA Today.

Luckily for us, Hart is keenly aware of these statistics. I do not know if Jon Gruden wants to coach college ball --he says he does-- but I do know that increases in seats sold, concessions, apparel revenue and media revenue fo through the roof when you have a championship level team.

If it was mere pocket change, we would have a much larger cash flow. UT is a business and it has a lot of over head, the money to run the day to day activities is the most important thing the university has to be sure to cover. The AD has to pay for itself, strange concept I know for someone who don't fully grasp the amount of money it takes for the university to stay afloat.

Very few athletic departments pay for themselves.

All the renovations and the new sports complex was not paid in full at the time of completion. Those loans are stretched out over a long period of time.

The point, of course, is that when you make a 100 million dollar investment, you make sure you do the necessary things to properly exploit it.

LOL @ the budget being 1.7 million...

Even if your number is true (and it's not) a budget is called a budget for a reason.

I assume you handle finances at home, no? You take money out, and put it where you need it. Rinse and repeat as needed. Nothing a budget hearing can't handle if it were needed. And again - it's not.

LMFAO @ winning with Tony Dungy's players.

You do realize a GM builds NFL teams? Not the ****ing head coach. Jesus.

By your standards Gruden beat the team he BUILT to win the Superbowl.

Never seen such a clueless poster.

Long drive.
Deep centerfield!
UTodd at a dead run, reaches, lunges....
It's over his head!!!!!
