Jon Gruden thread (merged)

Way to contradict yourself!!! First you say "Gruden built the Raiders despite Davis", then "if the Glazers had invested in a marquee QB". Can't have it both ways.....which one do you want to go with, does the HC build the team, or does the GM??

Just a question:

Why do you hate Jon Gruden so much?

How in the hell is that a contradiction, genius? He won with Rich Gannon, despite Al Davis. He thought he could do that again (make a good QB out of someone else's backup). Sort of did with Johnson. He wasn't a marquee QB, either. Doesn't mean he can't coach, just that in the case of his later days at Tampa, he didn't have enough talent at QB to get them back to the SB.

Gruden has 11 more wins in the NFL than Carroll did at SC. Like it or not Gruden is the best coach Tampa has ever had. Probably the best they will ever have.

No he doesn't have the greatest record ever (100-85) but look at the teams he coached. The Raiders have really done well through the years. Tons of success since he left. :ermm:

And Tampa. Enough said. Yeah they won 9 in his last year. I guess they were happy with the 3 wins they had the following one without him.

Somebody let me know when these 2 NFL teams win anything again.

You are aware that i am agreeing with you right?

EDIT: disregard this post 2424, i get the point, my bad.

And you, sir, may kiss where I defecate from. Tell ya what, on the day that Gru-bage is named HFC at UT.....I'll start the "Fire Gruden" thread. You don't have to post in it right away, but you'll make it in there eventually. Mark my words.

And as for your comment about me making a bad AD....never said I was trying to be the AD. I'm simply trying to get y'all to take your blinders off. Mike Ditka's got a SB ring. Bill Cowher has a SB ring. Tony Dungy has a SB ring. ALL of these are LIGHT YEARS better than Gruden has EVER been.

Haha, i give you facts about successful college coaches and their struggles in the NFL and you tell me to kiss your ass, you sure put up a strong argument...

I don't understand why you keep using the NFL (even though he had moderate success there) to predict how good of a college coach Gruden would be. It's been proven that coaches that did not succeed in the NFL have been VERY good in college. I really don't get where you're coming from.

You may be the most worthless poster on this forum.

You and your fellow Barbara Doorights are the most delusional, clueless individuals I've ever encountered in real life or on the internet.

Pulling out fake budget numbers that could easily be changed with a hearing anyway, and screaming that a head coach builds NFL teams are the two most absurd things I've ever read.

Serious?
I'm not sure.
I've been on record saying that CDD wins 8 and stays only to be replaced next year.
I've said I think he is not the guy over and over again.
I've never said anything about budgets.
I don't watch NFL or care about NFL coaches.
I've never offered an opinion on NFL coaches ever.
I simply said you might still be drunk.

I think you still might be drunk, confused, or stupid.
at this point I'm not sure which.

Hiring Gruden would send shock waves through college football. I don't know of any recent coaching hires that would be comparable. I just hope UT is the team that snags him. He'll be back on the sidelines somewhere within a year or two.

I would love Chucky on our sideline
I just think we've got a better chance of being struck by lightning... .....

Twice.

:p[QUO:pTE=utvolpj;7242636]maybe but it will not be because of anything you've posted
Grudge against me ehh? Just remember who said he will be coach when he comes here. Most people on here that know me can vouch for my track record on here.[/QUOTE]

Remember what happened last time Tennessee hired a NFL coach L Kiffin

Has absolutely no effect on the decision to hire Gruden if the opportunity presented itself.

Has about as much of an impact as the Vols performance in the GA dome prior to the NC St game...

Asa Vol fan, I sincerely hope that the opportunity does not present itself.

game is in 2 hours

sad thing is that there is no doubt a few wish we would lose tonight and fire Dooley after the game

i think that sucks

I hope we win every game on our schedule. I know it's not likely , but I never want to see us lose. Dooley has this season to show us if he can get it done.

Let's not forget all the coverage UT would get since Jon Gruden is ESPN's media darling.

That's very true!...Plus top recruits all over the nation would be taking notice...He wouldn't have to recruit hard to get excellent talent...It would be tough to say no to him if he's sitting in your living room...He knows how to talk the talk for sure.

Sadly, I think he'll get next season to prove us wrong.

The only reason i would want DD gone if he goes 8-4 this year is if Hart gets Gruden lined up, if thats not possible, then give him another year, if he goes 7-5 it would hurt, but i can see him getting another year if they can't find the right guy to hire, i really don't see another home run hire unless Carroll wants to come back to college, Strong would be the best candidate currently coaching a college team imo, but i don't think he would be the right hire. I don't think the best thing for the program right now would be to fire Dooley unless Gruden would take the job, Carroll maybe, but i'd rather have Gruden.

I can find nothing wrong in this post.
