I just got dumber reading your post. We already have a coach who "inhibits" a run first offense. WE WON A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RUNNING A PRO STYLE OFFENSE!!!!!!

Even my wife understands Spider 3 Y Banana after watching Gruden's show. ****ing pay him whatever he wants already.
Hart needs to establish a line of communication with Jon, right about now. Ask what it would take if the need to go in a "new direction" arose, and have him on speed dial for when it does.

I'm still pulling for this team and that means I hope Dooley can shock us all and start winning against conference opponents not named Vandy.

gruden makes almost $4 mil at espn, working 1 day during the week. UT would pay him $4-5 mil for working 70 hours every week minimum. Why would he change jobs?

Why would Haslam pay Gruden to coach here at UT when he could pay him to coach for his Browns of which he is more invested into than UT?

No Gruden. You saw what happened last time we hired an NFL coach. No. NFL-style offenses don't work in college. They especially don't work in the SEC. No. We need someone who will inhibit a run-first offense, i.e. UF, Bama, LSU, etc. Pro-style offenses DO NOT WORK in the SEC. Period.

I'm not sure Gruden has been waiting for a job all these years to come to Tennessee. But I'd be pretty stunned if he has been waiting to coach the Browns.

And anyways, only one Haslam owns the Browns.

No kidding... talk about polar opposite traditions, despite being in different leagues.

The money still comes from the same place and before any amount that large is spent, daddy Haslam has to give approval.

Who would you hire if you could OB?

I really don't know who would be available. I feel like another coaching change will set us back more, but i realize if we win 6-7 games it will be inevitable. I think some will say Stoops. Not sure he would come here. People want a big name, but I honestly can't think of one who would leave a job he is currently at, that he isn't on the hot seat, and come to a job where he immediately would be on it. More than likely we will get Kirby Smart or another up and comer.

It would never happen unfortunately. It would have to be like 7.5 for 4 years, a 30 mil deal then he would come imo, but that won't happen either.

That pretty much sums up how I feel about it.

I'd love Gruden, although I'll admit I fear the Gruden talk may just be wishful thinking. That said, there's nothing wrong with hiring someone like Charlie Strong.
