This proves my point. We're going to change coaches at some point and nothing will change here. Some will be happy, most will not.

Your point won't be proven unless we actually do change coaches and shoot low. I share the lack of optimism. Living way down here in Jax, I'm buying fewer tickets in 2013 unless we shoot high and hit, or whoever we do hire (or CDD) shows us something on the field. I'm done investing these long trips for a bad product.

I don't blame you. I've cut back on games too. I guess what I'm saying is I hope CDD can turn it around. History indicates it's not likely. I hope when he's replaced UT will hire someone great. History indicates it's not likely.

It's hard for me to imagine not going to the Florida game, but September day games in Gainesville are not pleasant. Then, throw in how the games have gone.

I started a new business (went out on my own) so I cut back to one game this year.
Bama.

What was I thinking?

I have a ticket to the Georgia game and have since been invited to two large parties that day. I have decided to attend the game, as it will likely either be CDD's redemption game or a performance that would push us a lot closer to a change.

The performance vs Florida is usually how I decide to skip Bama. I saw us beat Bama in 2006 and have not attended the game since. I have been a glutton for punishment with Florida though; I've been to the last eight (gasp).

You could be there for one of the great moments in UT history.

Here's to hope.

Why would Haslam pay Gruden to coach here at UT when he could pay him to coach for his Browns of which he is more invested into than UT?

Wikipedia says Gruden grew up a Browns fan.

Of course, it also has a 'future' picture of Gruden showing him being introduced as the Vols head coach.

I think if dooley is replaced in the next 2-3 years, the new coach will be a big name hire, not an up and comer / assistant type with no track record.

Here's my .02...

Barring an utter embarrassing loss (last night would've been considered one of the worst), I think Hart will give Dooley thru a 5th year (2014-2015 season) to see if he can get this program headed in the right direction as far as Wins & Losses is concerned (at least 8-9 wins). I think we'll give him a 4 year cycle so the team and its coaches are ALL Dooley's. If we have not pushed or are not pushing for a 9 win season in 2014 then it's time to abort operation Dooley.

I like Dooley, I really do, but I don't think he's the long term answer. I know, I know, stone me for being 999th person to say that. He's recruited fairly well and built some depth where we need it but it's the X's & O's, game day preparation and in-game adjustments that make me believe we'll be forced to go in a new direction in the near future.

Daddy Haslam isn't the owner of the Browns.

Daddy is Jim, son is Jimmy and I am well aware of who he is. Jimmy is president and CEO of travel center operator Pilot Flying J. Care to guess how Jimmy got to where he is? don't kid yourself Daddy controls lots of things.

So, you hope that CDD fails, correct?

Stop putting words in my mouth, did i say i wanted DD to fail? Absolutely not, I was agreeing with the poster above about spending an adequate amount of money for a new coach if DD was fired, i've stated this numerous times on various threads but i'll say it again so I can drill it into your puny little brain. I want DD to succeed and take us back to the top but i have lost confidence in him, the only reason i would want DD fired right now is if Gruden had already been lined up for the job, unless that is true, then i don't think the best thing for the program right now is firing DD. Is that clear enough for you? Or do I need to break it down in terms that a 5 yr old could easily understand?
