This just in, 'Boro-vol sez he dreamed that Gruden was in as the Vol's coach next season. And that the are Vols favored to win it all next season.

What more do you need?

:)

Your newsflashes are showing little imagination. Am I gong to have to show you how its done again? Is this a silent plea?

I'm not snotty. I just think everyone is putting the cart before the horse in this thread. The idea that the process has already started is silly.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. Just be careful that your certainty doesn't give way to stubborn uninformed denial.

Short of Mike Hart coming out and saying "I've already contacted Jon Gruden about taking over the HC position after we can Dooley," there is no way for us to know for sure if talks have begun.

But to basically say that there is no way the process has begun is silly also.

What has Gruden done to make everyone think he'd be an awesome College coach? Look I like the thought of Chucky, but I'm not sold on him for big time $$$$ for a college coach. Can he recruit? Does he want to put in the time and work needed to compete in the SEC at a school where you have to recruit nationwide? If UT is going to put out Saban money, IT BETTER BE A HOME RUN or we are screwed for 10 more years.

You mean a 95-81 (.540) overall record isn't enough to convince you?

There are plenty in this thread who have given ink to it. You may end up being one of them.

I base my excitement only on what I've heard from those I trust, and on the circumstanial information that has been listed elsewhere in this thread.
It may be offbase, and may never happen, but I've expressed nothing here to be ashamed of.

What is your pessimism based on? Gut instinct? Intuition?

I would certainly hope so.

The impact of Hammy being AD at the time of the last hire can't be emphasized enough by all accounts.

This is an attractive job despite recent history. We have second to none facilities. We have a top 10 history. We have the largest recruiting budget in the nation. 3 of the most wealthy men in America are avid boosters. We have one of the largest stadiums in the nation. We play in the premiere football conference. What's not to like about it? That's what is so aggravating about the "no one else would have us" statements/attitude. It's BS defeatism. We are Tennessee, dammit. We need to act like it instead of groveling at the feet of a coach that didn't warrant the job and has done nothing since taking it to prove otherwise. We should not just expect the best, but we should also demand nothing but the very best.

I stated earlier where my thoughts come from. I have a family member who is a major booster/donor at UT. I'd love to have Gruden, I just don't see from what I've been told we have reached out to him already. To much left to play out. Now in 4 weeks if we are 3-5 this is a different conversation.

Would Dooley sacrifice Chaney to save his job for another year? Hypothetically, if it would work.

I think he probably would and it could work but it might be too late for that. He should have sacrificed Chaney last year.If chaney does go and Dooley stays how difficult will it be to get a good OC with Dooley being on the hot seat?

Then why are you wasting time baiting me in this thread. If your source is so ironclad, why would the Orange- blooded elite slum amongst the uniformed masses?

It's more convincing than 31-35 (.469) overall record and at a lower level, no?

Yes.

NFL is so much different IMO anyways. You can be a good coach and still not have a great record. The administration of the teams plays into affect on what players they get for the coaches to work with, so on and so forth.

Dooley has said he wants to produce good young men. NFL coaches must be the leaders of good men. Big difference.

Agreed.

As I stated earlier, if winning games was about starting a VFL program, wearing orange pants, and embracing Tennessee tradition, he'd be a great coach. I like the guy, but he sucks at winning football games.

The exposure that Gruden has had for the last few years alone has me feeling good about his ability to relate with young players. He will demand more, and the players will have respect from day 1 if he does indeed take over.

This just in from Forbes....UTKFHFGJG has been spied at World Market in Turkey Creek, shopping for a French coffee press, Bacon flavored coffee syrup, and a futon. He was reportedly accompanied by Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Kenny Chesney. Chesney apparently purchased a bamboo papasan chair.

I don't know what it all means, but it looks likes winning is coming back to Knoxville.

Top quarterbacks all over the nation beg him to critique their film in an effort to improve.
