Agreed..I mean there are definitely more qualified guys out there, but the verdict is still out on him. Maybe he can keep some of the current staff around and who knows?

I put this in another post, but it bears repeating. I am not sure I can remember a scenario where a coach leaving a program has had a bigger (negative) impact on the program.

I guess RC Johnson got tired of all the big name coaches turning up their noses at him and said "I'm gonna hire a guy that wants the damn job"... I understand he's a kickass recruiter. By the way, there ain't a Memphis State, where's the QC? Failure by the op...

Just a little touchy today, it would appear...I know plenty of coaches that have wanted a job, but that doesn't equate to success. And yes, there will always be a Memphis State.

This is the WOW hire I suppose? Perhaps their WOW is an acronym for "Who Oh Who" is this guy?

RC Johnson was reported that they would make a wow hire. It has been discovered those that reported it were reading it upside down. As in Josh will have his mom with him when he starts the job.

I'm not touchy. Just my opinions on the matter and a little reporting what everybody knows.

... My friend has decided it is a "great hire!" because Pastner graduated from college in 2.5 years and got his Master's and therefore he is a 'genius'

That's funny. I don't think a helluva lot of "genius's" aspire to be basketball coaches.

appears to be the choice at Memphis. RC Johnson should be committed immediately.

Can't fault RC completely. They swung for fences going after Pitino, Pearl, Floyd. As a Tiger alum, I am glad they at least asked. In the past, they would have only assumed these coaches would say no and would have hired the likes of Leonard Hamilton.

It was going to be impossible to get any great coach to leave their current situation and follow a legend. Same thing went on at Arizona.

When it got down to the last few days and the names I heard (Drew, Hamilton, Theus, Barbee, DK), I really wanted them to take a shot at Josh. He is the only one in the bunch that can keep some of these current players and recruits on board. All the others are mediocre coaches at best. Give the kid a shot and let's see what he does. This hire actually kept me from cancelling my season tickets. Any of the others, and my cash would have gone elsewhere.

What's worse? The fact there was already a thread on this or the fact that it's in the Tennessee Vols forum?

Double fail.
