Josh Pastner- Memphis

I've watched alot of tape on Adonis Thomas and I will give you that one. That kid is not a 2nd tier guy. He should be a great player. But you can't possibly compare the SEC and C-USA right now. Pastner is a likeable and personable guy. But he is def. not someone I would like in Knoxville to motivate kids to play at a High Level.

Memphis could definitely compete in the SEC (basketball-wise). The bottom half of our conference is absolute garbage.

Don't really see the point. Calipari has been able to make better teams with a bunch of freshman. Memphis basically had the best class last year if you take out Kanter from Kentucky's
class

He kicked off his best player like 10 games into the season, I can see that having some ramifications. Calipari is getting the best player at each position, so although Pasnter's class was great it wasn't equivalent to UK's. Finally, some of the same knocks on Pastner's team could be attached to this UK team as well, i.e. bad losses. I just don't see someone who's learned at the hand of Lute Olson and Cal for a decade being a bad coach. For goodness sakes the guy has coached for TWO years! How many people start off their career with a 49-20 record? I consider that pretty impressive, especially given the bare cupboard he was left with last year and the youthfulness of this year's team.

4 of those 49 wins were against a team with a top 50 RPI. All 4 of those games were against UAB.

It's funny how that happens when you make your conference's worst teams play the worst basketball teams in the country.

And has a CUSA team won a postseason game this year?

Do what? The guy said Memphis has beaten 9 SEC teams in the last decade and the other three they haven't played. Of those three, UF is the only one who's relevant. Therefore, Memphis has beaten almost all of the SEC's best teams (UK, UT, MSU, ARK).

I was referring to the way the C-USA inflates its Conference's RPI to get more teams into the tournament.

What would you expect from freshmen and second rate seniors that had never seen the floor? Of those 20 losses, 7 came to teams ranked 1, 4, 7, 10, 14, 17 and 17 respectively. Most be single digits. Pastner will win at Memphis and he'll do it the right way most importantly.

CUSA was # 8 rated conf this season. SEC was # 6 or 7. Not much difference

Memphis has beaten 9 of the 12 SEC teams in the last 10 years. The only 3 we havent beaten are the teams we havent played (AUB, FLA, UGA)

Per kenpom, the SEC is #6 (I think the SEC East division would be #2 if it were separated from SECW). CUSA is #8. However, CUSA is closer to #14 than even #7. Big gulf.

Also, wasn't your post, but any coach that gave up 100 to UT's offense this year should have to be recertified. Surely you've forgotten some of the rules (5 players per side, contesting a shot without contact isn't a foul, etc.).

his team made UT look disciplined

Exactly, we blew them out. It was not just one game either, they struggled against everybody. He recruits and that is all he is good at. I do not know if he could even recruit outside of Memphis.

He got recruits out of Maryland, Virginia, and Georgia last year.

If Hammy hires him, he shoud be immediately fired for doing so. The boy might be a good coach someday (like when he gets old enough to shave), but do NOT want at this point.

Devil's advocate.... :naughty: Mempho played Arizona to the wire. Arizona beat the hell out of Duke.

Give Josh a little time with the way he brings good players in and he will be a winner at Memphis.
