Pastner is good because his school has been to a Final Four? I guess Jeff Capel is Bobby Knight Jr. then. Or maybe we should go after Paul Hewitt, since he's actually been to one himself.
Or maybe you should read what you wrote. Is it difficult for you to comprehend your own writing? I wasnt justifying his talent as a coach, I was just refuting the "...because some idiots hired him..." remark. Good try though.
Anyone who would make the hire they did is an idiot. Hell, if carrying water for a Final Four team is all that matters, maybe we should be going after some Butler assistants right now.
Right. The hire was a bit premature but we were short of legitimate opptions at the time.
Oh, Pastner has also coached an AAU national championship team that he formed at the age of 16, started his own recruiting service at age 13, worked under two of the best recruiters in the history of college basketball, and interviewed for the Clippers at age 21. Theres a lot more to him than you think.
Also, isnt the Pastner hire similar to the Dooley hire? He went 12-12 in the WAC. Thats horrible.
You obviously didn't pay much attention when you were at games because Kendrick led Wheeler in scoring, assists and was second in rebounds.
Josh Pastner- Memphis leave Josh where he is at! remember you guys it Memphis Tiger Bakettball, UT Football! UT can't be good at everything! lol
If you think Pastner is a better coach right now than the coach UT is going to hire then you are a little to much of a Memphis fan to be unbiased. I will reiterate that I think Pastner would very well develop into a top notch coach eventually. He certainly has some important tools for success. But if you watched Memphis play this season and came away with the belief that the team was 'well coached' then you need some serious help refining your basketball evaluation skills.

hahahahaha!!! yeah, Adonis Thomas is a 2nd tier guy.
Why is he at Memphis and not Tennessee? It's not because of Pastner it's because he wants to be another hometown hero. The opportunity to play with Jackson and black.. Other Memphis guys. Like I said Pastner id not doing anything special down here in Memphis.

actually, JP has a lot to do with it. Calipari didnt recruit many local kids and most of the ones he did got away (Thad, Leslie Mac, EWill). Some that Cal didnt recruit have had good college careers- Terico White and Buckner at Ole Miss, for example. Josh appears to have locked the city down. He's going to take the best players that he wants and leave the rest for whoever to pick from. There's a bunch of D1 guys- Stokes, Newby, Golden, J3, Austin Nichols and Laron Black- coming up the next few years.
That being said, I agree with you to a degree. Most of the local guys grow up wanting to be Tigers. Always been that way. Always will be. Josh just uses that to his advantage. Therefore, it wont matter who the new UT coach is, he'll have an uphill battle against Pastner for Memphis kids.
