"On the roster = excellent player, leaving program = POS"

I never said he was excellent when he was here. He frustrated me the entire time he was here with his inconsistency. If there's a big game it was always 50/50 he shows up

I like vescovi strictly as a wing…he has no business directing traffic at the top of the key..Barnes needs to concentrate on getting him more touches so he can get hot…we lack a consistent 3 ball due to never taking many 3’s early in the game and then when we get behind we just start throwing them up as desperation.
With the addition of Knecht, we have two sharp shooters in theory, which is just something we just haven't really had since like Bowden and Admiral.

Would be fun if we implemented the platoon style subs that KY had that one insane season. However, idk who would sub Ziegler from the bench.

Absolutely no one should be even slightly upset about someone of JJJ’s caliber with 4 years of SEC experience WALKING ON for a 5th year. There is zero down side to him being on this roster if he isn’t on scholarship.

Honestly, I’m stunned. Most shocking development of the off-season. This roster is so loaded and is more complete than any roster in recent memory. It’s obviously no guarantee that we’ll have a good season. But, I’m hopeful we can make some noise with a roster that is likely the most experienced in the country.

I honestly don’t think JJJ would come back if it meant taking minutes from the new transfers.

Wishful thinking but maybe Barnes talked him into a smaller role coming off the bench or to help coach some of these younger guys.

It doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

EXACTLY my thoughts as well. We would be utter fools not to welcome him back for the reasons you mentioned...not to mention his leadership which is massive. I'd be surprised if he's not on CRB staff immediately after eligibility(unless of course he plays professionally)

Not only that, say we get hit with the injury bug and Ledlum and Knecht both get injured or something crazy like that. 5th year JJJ is a crazy insurance policy in that regard.

Sorry to anyone who wants to complain about this because they’re “tired” of seeing him, but this is a great stabilizing force for the team. As I said before, there is an ongoing very close relationship with CRB and JJJ and the door was always open. I really hope JJJ gets the healthy productive season he deserves.

Yep. I hope we stay healthy all season long, but this roster is now built to withstand the injury bug more so than other teams. We are very, very deep across the board.

For those wondering, adding ORN or Julian Phillips instead of JJJ would make Tennessee the clear-cut number-one team in the country.

Apples to oranges though, considering JJJ will most likely walk-on.

Is it guaranteed he’s going to start? I mean this was sprung on the coaches and they planned on him going. I would say that he’s welcome back but he has to earn his minutes.

I don’t think any Vol is guaranteed to start and JJJ played in plenty of games that he didn’t start last year

JJJ can bring the ball up also so Santi doesn't have too. Santi needs to stay on the wing 100% of the time.

Oh, I know. That was just me taking a petty swipe at the sunshine pumpers. I'll hang up and listen.

I can't see this as being "sprung" on the coaches. I'm sure he was in direct communication with them the entire time. Surely this was always a possibility.

From the radio today it was a call this weekend and the coaching staff was caught off guard. Just going with what’s reported. I don’t think the coaches planned on him coming back
