'19 JUCO WR Javonta Payton (Tennessee commit)

Damn. Payton dropped a pass with Stevens helping on coverage. May have been deflected a bit by JS. Woulda been a sweet catch in double coverage.

I like Goodner at qb to see Payton outside. Payton looks pretty dang athletic. Seems a bit under rated. I hope he's a Vol.

Stevens definitely interfered. Grabbed both his arms and yanked down before the ball arrived

Kaleb is a SR, headed to MSU. Kyle is at Memphis now. Not sure UT even recruited Kaleb, after Kyle transferred out before camp.

Stevens not that impressive tonight.

I was never impressed with him. From the first time I saw his highlights. The kid is simply not an explosive athlete.

Javonta Payton on the other hand looked like he had a jet pack on his back on that long run. Kid has wheels. IMO he looks like the 5 star while Jacoby looks like the 3 star.

Payton will not have great stats this year as they literally suck on offense

Stats are irrelevant with high school kids. Its about finding it the kid has transferable skills to the college game.

Javonta has great speed and a nice frame. Once he gets in a college strength and conditioning program, he'll be a problem.

He's got SEC skills.

Totally agree.

They're different players D4H.

Payton is a speed WR.

Stevens is a bigger body.

Payton is underrated for sure.

But Stevens is a real prospect.

If you told me I could sign only one of them, I would choose Payton. He's more explosive and looks to have the higher ceiling.

Stevens is not a DB or WR. I'll hold off on calling him a complete bust because he could transition into being a halfway decent LB. But he's definitely not got the explosiveness to be a DB or WR.

You can't go wrong with either one of them. But i agree to disagree about Stevens.

Stevens is a big safety with WR agility. Payton type agility? No, but who does? I know you like quick twitch guys over other types. If it were up to you'd probably start Warrior at safety.
Stevens isn't done growing, but not just that. He's going to get faster. His body type is rare. That said- as good as he is- isn't close to being as good as he will be. And he's got great feet.

If he signed with Tennessee he would start for us next year. He probably will start for LSU next year. That's all I'll say.

Payton is a much better open field runner than Justiin Hunter. And Payton is 6'1" himself. But he runs like a short slot guy. If he signs with us, he will play next year. If nothing else to run go routes. Payton is easily a 4 star, top 250 type talent.

Stevens wouldn't start at SAFETY for us. Not this year,or at least the following two IMO. Linebacker might be a different story, but I don't think he's as suitable a DB as Theo Jackson...much less what we already have on the roster.

You've lost your damn mind son. I deferred to your supposed knowledge because you run camps and all but that ball was thrown way high. Wr looking back. Steven running forward right towards it. A gimme poor throw if I ever saw one. Nobody here thinks Stevens is a scrub. He just didn't look like a sure fire 5 star that night. He looked like a stronger faster athlete than most of the players. I was expecting to see an outstanding football player but did not see it that night. We've been here before u came along and will be here long after so don't come up in here thinking you know more than anybody else. You've proven u don't

I agree with about everything but him playing his freshman year. RS would serve him well.
